Short gift message

I've been sending my best friends steam gifts for more than a decade now and we used to write each other kinda long messages with it. It happened with each of our birthdays, hence three times a year.
Now it's very few characters. Because.
I find that simply ridiculuous, there's absolutely no reason to justify that but pissing me off. Those messages aren't even stored! They're simply sent by email. And even if they were, they weigh nothing (Valve will be storing what I'm typing right now which is way longer).
Please, get back to gift messages with reasonable length. Whatever you're saving, it's not worth giving me a poor experience.
It's something that just makes you look stupid and bad with loyal customers for no reason.

Steam doesn't see the need for over long messages when gifting.
You don't need to write a book for the message.
And if you want to, there are many other ways and places you can use to send said message.

Personally I see the message with the gift to be like sending someone a card with the gift, you don't leave crazy long messages on a card because it looks tacky.

You have to understand Steam is a small indie company. They cannot afford that much text with gifts. It was literally bankrupting them.
