having Valve or the game publishers rename titles of games in Steam games list so they sort better/correctly.
here are a few examples of games I have on Steam..

- LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII

it is a bit ridiculous that the naming of this Final Fantasy game is out of order..
and as such is not sorted with all the rest of the Final Fantasy games I have on Steam.. please fix this as it should be titled as
- FINAL FANTASY XIII-3 - LIGHTNING RETURNS
so it is sorted correctly.

I wonder if Valve can do it or do they need to get SquareEnix's permission?

I have also noticed a few of the "Ys" games are out of order too in the sorted list..

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox
is sorted between Ys I and Ys Origin
and Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is after 7 instead of before it..

Ys: Memories of Celceta
and
Ys: The Oath in Felghana
don't have a number next to the Ys name so no clue what game they are in the series..
so not sorted right either, from the looks of it...

so yeah

Please fix them too...

You need to get the publisher to change the names. Valve won't do it as those games are not theirs.

Some publishers have made changes akin to your request. I imagine some are more responsive than others.
Agreed. Let us drag and drop the games in the order we want, or just edit the names. the latter can be perfectly local in the library only, it's fine if the name chosen by the developer is broadcasted to the wide world via profile and such.
The ability to drag and drop games in the order we want them would be most welcome. I don't see why this isn't a feature.

aah ok...
not sure how to get a hold of the developers or publishers..
hmm.. will have to look into it further...
I'm surprised there's not more of a push for this kind of library customisation. I'm referring specifically to a drag and drop feature. Renaming games could potentially lead to trolling, so I don't think that'll ever happen. Well anyway, I guess this isn't at the top of gamers' concerns because whenever it's been brought up there's very little interest shown and the thread quickly dies out.

Any word from Valve yet?
Or the game publishers?
Bummer
No.
As we do not own the rights to the IP, we cannot change the games name.
If people could, they would change the name and try to rerelease the game as their own.
So no, we will not get the ability to change the games name in our library.

A few options to organise the library would be appreciated from my side. Not talking a specific concept but customisation. Drag and drop, custom names, colors, individual folder settings, subfolders. The common stuff for graphical interfaces, I pick what i need and put it where I want it.

Maybe an option to customise the game page.
E.g. I could make use of multiple launch buttons with different launch flags. (I do this via Windows, works I know, just for convenience)

Lol

No , people have been asking for this for years. You making a thread unfortunately changes nothing.

It's a bit sad, because this could easily be a community efford. I'm sure there would be volunteers for a ui rework. At least for Scripting a few comfort functions.

This brings me memories of renaming notepad to "Half Life 3 Beta" to run it as a non-steam game and troll my friends through the notifications popup.

Probably ranking very low at the very long list of features Steam has to implement.
It took them years to improve a bit the profile privacy settings.

Hopefully Valve can negotiate some licensing agreement to do this. If properly added to the licensing agreement and limited it could be doable. It seems strange to me that the Steam license is so restrictive as I can rename games I have bought outside of Steam.

i cannot imagine that using a text file

simply to sort a playlist

would constitute some kind of copyright infringement

no one would be using it to make money or anything

just to properly sort their games

if it is

then i have broken the law a lot in my personal files
no.
use collection and filter
