An option to upvote/downvote games as a review alternative
Over my time on steam, i've really grown to dislike writing or even looking at most reviews, serious or not.

A simple non public yay or nay voting option (and maybe a neutral) would be nice and would contribute to smaller games.

There's no length requirement for a review. It can just read "it's good" or "I don't like it" or "I had fun" or "it's bad"

Then people might thumbs down your review since it's not very helpful as a review, despite being helpful for the game's overall score. Though I think that just might make your review less visible which might work out for dookie's goal in the end anyway so that's still a good suggestion. But I kinda like the streamlined ideology of a single up or down vote.

Just do ASCII art or write about how you are a divorced dad and the game let you connect with your son like everyone else.

I am aware. I would like a non-public way to like or dislike a game that contributes to the overall score.

Personally I think if its private (or friends only) then it shouldn't effect the overall score. You can make your recommendation friends only and only they will see it. If you don't even want your friends seeing it, then why bother putting in a recommendation at all. Just ignore it.
