$ per hour played ratio
To find this, you find the total price of all your Steam games, then you divide that by the total number of hours played. Anything above 1 is horrible, and it's really good to be under .2.

I think Steam should tell you your total number of hours played, and your $ per hour ratio. It's fun to try to keep it under .2 (Mine is at .19)
It's a drag to have to calculate that, and having that as a sort-of statistic on the Steam overlay would be nice.
Thoughts?

Since hours played have only been logged for a few years now, the calculation would be wildly off for many and just a fudge at best...

Wouldnt work to well for me, Most of my games I got from the Humble Bundle, so a game set of 60$ may have only cost me 5$

Go by the amount they cost normally. This is just to see if you are playing your games for what they are worth.
TirithRR 21 ABR 2014 a las 7:54 a. m.
Going by the normal price is pointless. Because you didn't spend that money. So dollars per hour played should be dollars YOU spend, per hour YOU play.

Also, Steam says I own 654 games but only payed 700 dollars total. Because I have something like 25 bundles from Humble Bundle, another 20some bundles from Bundle Stars, a dozen or so from Indie Gala, and a dozen from other bundle companies.

Steam has no idea how much I paid for those games, I'd have to go through my records and compile all the info and put it in myself. If Steam just went by full price, then it'd be skewed greatly, since many of these bundled games are 5-15 dollars each, when you only paid 2-3 dollars for a dozen of them together.

Well as your profile privet i am really not sure if you say its right or all the way wrong.. also it dose not call in sales... only full price.. so if you get all your games on sales the price will be way off
TirithRR 21 ABR 2014 a las 4:30 p. m.
Ya, as I mentioned. I have about 50 bundles purchased through Humble Bundle and Bundle Stars, plus a dozen or so picked up on other sites. So it lists games as being worth $20.00 that I only paid $0.20 for.

Being a rough estimate is a givin, there are a lot of factors that could skew the formula. The point is, when you play the games, the number goes down; when you buy new games, the number goes up. It's satisfying.
Start_Running 21 ABR 2014 a las 4:51 p. m.
Fair enough estimate but really you can play a short game and have a lot of fun with it. I mean that's like saying the longer the movie the better it is.
Skindiacus 21 ABR 2014 a las 4:53 p. m.
It's not about how good the game is, it's about how many hours of playtime you bought. I bought a $30 game and only played it for 9 hours. Not a good buy. But I also bought a game for $10 and played it for 180 hours. Good buy.
TirithRR 21 ABR 2014 a las 4:58 p. m.
Maybe to you.

But if I paid 5 dollars for that 30 dollar game and got 9 hours of it, but got 180 hours of gameplay out of that 10 dollar game, I might still say that 9 hours of game play would be better than the 180, depending on the game.

How long does a good meal last? How much does a good meal cost? How much is a good meal enjoyed?

For most of us, $30 for 9 hours of fun and enjoyment is quite equitable. Better ration than most movie ticket prices. And One can always go back and play again racking up more hours without racking up extra cost.
Silicon Vampire 21 ABR 2014 a las 5:19 p. m.
Maybe I can put it another way.

I haven't played a whole lot of many of my games. BUT, if you average out all my playtime against all my games actual cost, I still have done extremely well.

The big issue here is it's a subjective perspective.

Up ^_^

Considering Restaurant at a ratio about 50/70$ / hour
Movie theater 8€ / hour

I'm not crying about a 5€/ hour game if it's very good.

I did all my library with this ratio and aside for very latest game I'm between 0.2 and 0.8 €/hour.

Voilà !
