Support for adding non-exe games to library?
I think that steam would improve a large amount from being able to add non-steam games that are also not exe files. It would be in the same basic way as we currently do with .exe files but instead, be able to choose what program the specific program uses to open. This would allow you to access .swf files and ROMs from steam. This would also be good for sales in that even if a person isnt initially interested in steam, they may download it to organize their games and eventually be drawn in by the sale notices. Its a win/win and it would not be difficult to do at all.

This would mean that everyone should have around 2-10GB cloud space? it would slow the F out of Steam.. not to mention that steam is moving on slowmotion anyway
OP isn't suggesting being able to upload files, just being able to run them from your computer.

Not a bad suggestion, low priority for Valve as it may be. I mean, you can already do it by just adding the program that would run the file instead and specifying the file as a command line parameter. Bit tedious to add a whole lot that way, of course.

I don't really buy the "people not interested in Steam might use it to organise their games" bit; if all you want is lists of shortcuts, you can do that just fine within the OS. Just make some folders (and put them in your Start menu or whatever if you like). But hey, you never know.

Well me personally, i am looking for a way to organize ALL of my games in an asthetic way and be able to play all of my games from one place. But yes. The first guy got it wrong. The "Gus the Crocodile" understands. And even if i am wrong saying people will download steam JUST to organize games, you can't argue that people will open steam more often than normal therefore leaving more chances for people to see market deals

Yes. But there are many limitations to just having a folder of games
