As has been stated ad infinitum, this is a slow time of year for big game launches, exacerbated by the launch of 2 major consoles just before Xmas. There's no big game releases that have been bumped as a result of indie games and early access releases, there just haven't been very many major launches in the last few months.
Personally, I would rather have lots of games i don't care about being launched, than no games being launched. It leads to choice, and that can only be a good thing.
There are 2834 game entries in Steam's Search.
There are more ♥♥♥♥♥♥ non Early Access games on Steam than there are Early Access games total.
You have a wrong relation. Early Access is a new trend. You cant compare it in this way you do.
Early Access Games get more and more, thats true. In my mind i have always the thing in my head that only multiplayer games are early access. But every game can be Early Access.
The community is horrible, they always say to others to shut up its early access. Noone can say his opinion or critic to a game that has Early Access without someone who shows his finger to the Early Access sign.
But when not now, when is the point to say something. Furthermore is Early Access something where the community can lead the developers to a better understanding what the players want. And this is a big difference to normal game publishing.
The community of Early Access games is really horrible.
There is no positive to removing early access. You are only restricting access to more games.
I don't buy any of those games, i won't willing accept to be a beta/alpha tester and not get paid.
It's a bad business practice and i won't support it, it only promotes shovelware spam.
Thats because a lot of "critiques" aimed at early access games are stupid. People actually complain that EA games have bugs, or that the game has changed. You don't get to complain about stuff like that.
Put the crack pipe down. The reason there hasn't been much in the way of AAA tittles is because they arn't being released. Just what do you think steam is?
Dont missunderstand me, i like Early Access Games for many reasons. But i dont like the Community around Early Access Games.
I was accused of being a troll on the 7 days to die forum because right off the bat I had issues the zombie spawning system. I thought infinite spawninig zombies that automatically knew where you were was a cheap ass mechanic.
On one hand I thought it was a valid complaint about a core gameplay mechanic, on the other hand it has been changed since then.
I think most game communities react with rage and butthurt to complaints aimed at their beloved game, it's not something thats limited to EA.
And when it will be fix i think that Valve needs to do that part of adding something to show on what part these review was made.. so it may not be reverent or soemthing
On a defrent tread on these subject i look up how many Early Access games vs how many finish games were release on Steam from the time EAG come on Steam
Yet there are more Finnish games released then EAGs (if you want i can try to find that tread..)
I am not saying it's good or bad, it's just an obsurvation. It changes the structure of the community.
There will always be people backing one thing or another. The idea is to allow these groups not to get too lost in one or the other without isolating each group at the same time.
Perhaps a 'Featured EAG' -up and coming-, Featured 'Indie', and Featured 'Mainstream' all on the Store page could allow people to choose their shopping preferences and allow them to 'see' what is going on with the other groups without isolating them or forcing people to click past them. (it seems to be ticking a lot of people off, which is not good when you want them to spend money)
It's an idea good or bad. I want every group, devs and gamers, to have their options and 'passive' display without anyone group taking center stage.
I mean some Indie games may be:
Minecraft.. and you want to tell me that is not mainstream?
That is 100% utter tripe and an insult to those devs working hard on games everywhere.
Just because you don't liek something doesn't mean you get to make up lies to support your position.
