Posting your PC rig on your profile.
IF your ever curious of your friend's system specs and if you can run a specific game, there should be an option to show off your PC rig on your profile, so you can see what kind of PC your friends have and check if you can run games like COD: Toasts and Liberations HD.
Think about it, it's a really great idea, I've been dying for a few years for Valve to implement this feature on steam.

Why not just write the specs into your profile description?

Yeah, like if anyone will do that, the description is just for describing yourself, of course, they could change the description of the description box so that you can also post your PC rig, that could work too.

You can put pretty much anything in that box. If anyone is really interested in putting their specs on, they can do it there. If they aren't that interested, they're unlikely to use your feature suggestion.

I've seen many profiles use the profile description or some other profile box-widget-thing to describe their PC specs.

Alright, but like i said, they should put an option to see if your rig is compatible with a game. If they put the rig feature of course.

Not a good idea me thinks.

The minimum and recommended specs come from the game publishers, and they are almost completely arbitrary. Even if all Steam does is match your PC's specifications with that of the game's, you are going to end up with a lot of angry customers who feel Steam has let them down.

Yeah, your right, Steam always lies/makes mistakes on the system specs, and websites like Game Debate or so will tell you if you can run a game or not, not a good idea for a feature like this, but it's something that i though that could be done.

Agreed, that is best left to discuss on forums.

First of all the game publisher/dev puts the specs not Valve...
Second of all something that will see if a game can run on your PC seem to maybe come soon.. if you use Enhanced Steam[www.enhancedsteam.com] you can use it all ready

Even that you cant really trust it
