Customizable BG in Big Picture Mode

As avid user of the Big Picture mode of Steam i have started to wonder why there havent been any exchangeable backgrounds. Think of these similar to live wallpapers on smartphones or tablets. These could for example be user generated, or if made by developers rewards for trading cards. Hope the idea might be considered by valve and of course be discussed by the community

Maybe you can do it already (i do not know)
Maybe the background is part of the skin?

im honest i havent tried what happens if you change steams interface skin. but for sure i havent come across any option to tackle the backround of the big picture individually

well just need to find it... so i will look for it (when i am done with some replays )

Any way i also may have found how to do it
But im now playing around with it to see if i can make it work will be updating

And as i cant post no more (did too much) il just have to update these one and edit it... so keep an eye for it if you want to know abut how its going

But i am not done yet... the problem with these is its fixing it self when you start Steam but i think i know what to do to be sure it will stay like you like it to be

Like you can see its part way as its not all the way in the back but its something

Ok after a long seach and work and things i found out yes i can change it... i can do many awesome things to BPM but.... Right now what ever you do will change back when Steam resets or updates.... so its best to wait for Valve to add something to allow us to have the skin working also on the BPM

looking good even though its not a permanent solution mind sharing the paths which contains the files which need to be modified?

Ya sure np..... but know you will need to edit part of a code for it XD

And these is just to change the background if you want to change the start video and much more just need to find were its place :

You can also do that..
Any how seening there is no tool for it now.. i may just try to find sometime and make a pogream that you can run to set all these things that you like to change (up to when Valve add skin edit for it

So to change the background you will want to go to were Steam is installed -> tenfoot

Now there is two ways... one is more corrcet one is more easy so il start with the easy one
in tenfoot (i think these is all the BPM skin stuff) go to tenfoot\resource\images then edit mainmenu_bg_2.png to what ever you want (do note that it may hide or look bad on some of the games that are hovering in the background (also over here you can edit every thing you want preety much like the logos and all

Second way:
Go to tenfoot\resource\styles find the file: backgroundvideopanel.css and right click edit
Then search in there for:

#BackgroundMovie
{
z-index: -10000;

animation-name: particle-system-anim;
animation-duration: 15.0s;
animation-timing-function: ease-in-out;
animation-iteration-count: infinite;


// background-image: url( "file://{movies}/Background1080p.webm" );
// opacity: 0.3;

width: 100%;
height: 100%;
}

Delete these:

animation-name: particle-system-anim;
animation-duration: 15.0s;
animation-timing-function: ease-in-out;
animation-iteration-count: infinite;

And then take off the // that is here:

// background-image: url( "file://{movies}/Background1080p.webm" );
// opacity: 0.3;

And change

 file://{movies}/Background1080p.webm

to the photo file you going to use (note it needs to be 1920 on 1080 pixels and PNG (you may be able to use more then that but that is what its originally is)

After that go to tenfoot\resource\images and place the photo you want to use there
({movies} = tenfoot\resource\images

Any how il see if i get sometime to make some code that anyone can run to set the second way of doing it.. so you can just run that after Steam is on
Also remmber to do all these While Steam is active.. if you open steam after you do it.. Steam will "Fix" it self and go back

Also have fun playing around there... as to go back you just need to reset Steam its easy to play around and see what each thing is doing

Close note: in tenfoot\resource\images you can find a file named "intro_movie.webm" that is the video i link on the top changing that will change the start up video
