Steam in home streaming for windows RT
So, I don't know if this is the right forum to post this idea in and if it's the wrong then i'm sorry, Anyway. I think that there should be a steam client for windows RT, I know that normal games can't run on windows RT because of the ARM thing but that's where the In-Home streaming comes in! A client for windows RT could just be a streaming client so that you could stream all the games that normally wouldn't work on it! And to my knowledge, Windows RT has built in controller support and also normal keyboard and mouse support aswell so I don't think that would be a huge problem. Anyway, thanks for hopefully reading and again, sorry if this is the wrong forum to post it in.

I think its the right place

Any how its not a bad idea even that it means making basicly a Windows RT app right? i do not know if any one in Valve ever done it and how easy will it be for them to do it

For now maybe use some remote control software like Team Viewer or something?

I use splashtop to stream my games from my PC to my surface and it doesn't work that well, So I think that a dedicated app made to stream games would work much better. Altough I've never tried Team Viewer so maybe that would work better.

I would also like to see this happening.
Windows RT even has native Xbox 360 controller drivers so it would be perfect as a gaming device if it could get the games on it.

Given that the new Surface announcement lacked the entire RT line, I'd wager that RT is effectively dead. Not much sense in making a steam client platform for something that's likely going to gone. Not to mention Valve's hatred for MS

Even though there are remote connection apps on the Windows RT store, it is likely a high performance streaming app like Steam's would either need deeper system access or more resources than RT apps allow.
RT is most likely going to be merged with windows phone as sort of a rebirth of Windows Mobile that covers phones and basic tablets.Sort of how Android brought honeycomb back into the main fold.

I just followed up on the surface pro 3 news. I understand Microsoft strategy to market the enterprise section with its new pro line tablet/pc as it is a great replacement for clunky laptops and additional tablet into 1 device which boosts productivity and mobility. The RT however would have been a great extension to normal consumers who already own a PC but would like to have access to it from the comfort of their couch as well as regular surfing and gaming.

Its a shame that the mass market didn't really GET the RT as its so much more than an iPad competitor. Having the possibility to stream full games from my own gaming PC while being anywhere in the house would have been so cool.

Streaming full games from one pc to another pc with steam in-house streaming... I don't really get why you wouldn't just go sit at that PC then anyway???
And a laptop is just too clunky to lay on the couch with.

I'm not bashing the new Steam feature what so ever, I'm just stating that the appeal of it would be that I could run full games without having to sit at a desk, aka using a tablet (which windows provides/provided at affordable prices in the RT line).

If nothing else a Windows Store app that can be used as a client for in-home streaming would be awesome.

Then I could use the power of my desktop and convenience of my Surface 2 for gaming, at least for games that work well with a gamepad.

Hello guys , what do you think about the idea of a SteamPhone , a smartphone in dual boot with android and Steam OS that can play your steam games in your living room on your (on your tv for example ) or whatever media you like via a dock ?

What phone processor would be powerful enough to drive a full GFX game?

I assume that he was talking about streaming from your desktop to your phone, and that'd be a very nice idea. Look up the Nvidia shield or the Nvidia shield tablet for how it might look if they made something like this.

Thats not what he said, he wanted a dualboot steamPHONE that can play games on your tv via dock

Alright, even if it wasn't, the Nvidia Shield tablets. K1 chipset seems to be able to handle Half life 2 an portal 1 running natively on the device, so we could get some gaming done with that.

Well since steam cant even release a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ client for windows phone 8.1 I doubt they'll ever support streaming.

They likely can but may not be worth it for the small amount of the market on it unlike Windows
