When Will Mojang Create a Store Page of Minecraft on Steam?
Notch refused to do that a decade ago but the development team is now under the successful guidance of Microsoft, which is already enough of a reason for VALVe and Mojang to negotiate considering in what way Minecraft is leading to, it would only make sense to have it on Steam. It might even boost the playercount and it is profitable both by Steam and especially Mojang doubling the sales so they can spend more of it on the game tuning up its quality, everyone wins.

Okay, put exclusive decent cosmetics people will buy in Steam Minecraft vesion. "Problem" solved.

A big thing with Minecraft is the mod-able nature of it. Doing this purchase cosmetics defeats the purpose.
Not like it matters if some people already are willing to use skin changers instead of paying unlike the majority who pays all the time legitamely.

You can only change skins without the cash shop on the Java edition. Which isn't 'illigitimate' by a long shot.

Up to the game devs/publishers/IP-holders. Valve doesn't reach out to get games on Steam. So keep pressing Microsoft and hope they budge.

I'm not talking about skins.

Except you literally mentioned them.

More like Microsoft. Mojang is just a studio that works on the game now. Microsoft owns them and the Minecraft IP, so decides what to do with it.

I was talking about cheats in CS2 that allows you to see a desired skin on demand, dude.

Probably never. It's their biggest moneymaker in the franchise. Why split the revenue with Valve?

On top of that, it would be the Windows version too. Ewwwwwwwwwwww .

:summercat2023:

What do you mean by the Windows version of Minecraft?
I don't understand.
It's a Java app.

Mojang/Microsoft needs to be the one to take those steps. Meanwhile, the doors of Steam are open whenever they're ready.

Personally I don't think you should hold your breath. There are a few games out there that found success outside of Steam, like Fortnite, Roblox, Genshin Impact, League of Legends, and Minecraft. There's very little reason for these companies to bring those games to Steam at this point. (LoL was on Steam, but they pulled it to establish their own thing.)

If Minecraft were struggling hard to actually find a userbase, bringing it to Steam would probably be beneficial. It's not though, so I don't think we'll ever get it here. Just it's spin-offs...

Any value above 0 makes all the difference.

People already purchase multiple copies outside of Steam.

And we still don't know what details were in Notch's contract with MS. I wouldn't put it past him to add the "No Steam" clause to it.

Okay, put exclusive decent cosmetics people will buy in Steam Minecraft version. "Problem" solved.

They already have a Marketplace. Valve would get a cut of the profits here too.

Why would it be a problem? Make an exclusive one for Steam to outdamage the 8$ loss by gaining 2000% more.
