When you buy a game on steam, your buying a PC version, not a PS4 version(or any other version for any other 'non PC platform'). Games being multi-platform doesn't give you access to other platforms version when you buy it on steam.
You may want to re evaluate your understanding of what steam is, and the general gaming market.
and that ive already seen a few game that where on steam end up on ps4 as well either way it would be cool
Sony would never allow such arrangement, nor probably Valve, even if they had a choice.
What could be possible and less offensive to either company would be developing Steam's in home streaming for the PS4 but they would likely be afraid of losing sales to each other too.
Second adding your games from Steam on PS4 to be honest is some what not fair for a Dev..
Making a game from the PC to PS4 or the other way around, takes work and time to do, its not a few seconds work to be done and there for it means it cost them more to do it
So when you buy the PC game on a PS4 in a way you pay for there work on converting it from one to the other
As well i will guess that Sony is taking a cut of games sold for the PS4, so having these will also cut in there profit/Steam.
Even that maybe having Steam on PS4 to chat with friends can be nice XD but to add games i think will be great for the customer really bad for the Dev/Publisher/System (Steam/Sony)
Exactly, a lot of games on Steam are PC only games created by small dev/indie teams that do not have the experience to port those games to Console whether it be Xbox, PlayStation, Wii, whatever. It would take years to get that going unless of course, they already had knowledge of how to do this. Still even then it would take months.
But your vision will most likely not be seen through. Im pretty certain Valve will not partner up with Sony.
In the same way several of the appications on the PS4 could be said to be competing directly with Sony's movie rental and streaming aspirations, Steam *might* be considered competing for game sales - however, Sony instantly increase the catalog of games available for THEIR console by a massive amount through the streaming - at minimal invstment from their side.
Also in the same way Netflix, Amazon Prime, and the like are available, a Steam application which streamed would be a great thing.
You're comparing a mobile device with a gaming system built for the sole purpose of playing video games.
None of the consoles need any sort of relation to Steam. Steam is its own thing, and cannot be compared to Netflix or anything like that. If you were to attempt streaming, it just flat out wouldn't work unless the PS4 had KBM support (which I have no idea if it does or not) and not only that, but PC games with controller compatibiility are 99% of the time tailored to the Xbox brand of controllers and mapping that to the PS4 would probably take more time than its worth since you can't use something like XPadder on a console.
It's no different than asking for an Xbox Live app for PS4. Something like that can't be compared to Netflix because Netflix is completely different from XBL/Steam and are used for different things.
The PlayStation and Xbox line of consoles all have their own stable, functional system for games, and Steam is the equivalent to that for PC gaming. You cannot say that because they have apps on iOS/Android, they should make apps for the consoles as well. Microsoft has the Xbox Smartglass app and Sony has a PS app, but you never see any real support on the opposing consoles and even on PC gaming clients (you could argue that Origin does allow you to link your XBL/PSN accounts though, and Steam as well to an extent because of Portal 2.)
