Progress tracker for games
Let me start by saying that I'm a HUGE gaming-fan in general who works a full-time job and thus has not got the luxury of playing games all day, though I squeeze out as much as possible when most people go to sleep/aren't awake yet (after a nightshift,..).

Therefor I have alot of divided gaming time, and as an extra obstacle I enjoy trying out alot of games in general. I can play games like Diablo III, Dragon age: Origins, Civ. 5,... for 3-4 hours in a row the one day and play a completely different game the other. What my real problem is that I sometimes lose track of my progress in my games since I play so many in so many different orders/time.

I would need some kind of "progress tracking" app that keeps track of your current progress in all your games so you can quickly overview where you last logged-off. I realise that not every game is easy to "chop" into chapters but still many games could benefit from such an app.

Maybe even somekind of "notepad" would be handy where you could type something just before you exit your game on Steam so you could make a small text. Especially for story-driven games I can see the benefit for such a tool. I would love to be able to pick up a game like Dishonored again but I honestly haven't got a clue where I stopped playing that one and restarting it all over again just feels like a shame sometimes.

Nothing no Steam-programmer can't fix, I take ? ;-)

i think would be a lot simpler if you just create a text file for each of your games and write a note after each session.

That would have to be something done by the developer of those games. As with achivements, they would need to put a flag in their game for the various stages that you progress through.

Even if Steam added the frame work, that would only be a small step. The developers would have to patch it in to existing games for it to work as well as test that it didn't break anything.

In the end, it wouldn't be worth it for the devleopers to do. It would mean going through the code of the game in it's entirety and figure out where to place these flage. We are talking atleast a few hundred manhours here for the coding alone.
