As for your login name, that isn't changeable, unfortunately, but you're right, there ought to be a way to change it.
The usual reason people offer on here is that Valve reportedly built the database badly such that it's assumed to be a pain to make such a feature. Though, there's been very few comments (and they're pretty old ones) about exactly why Valve has yet to make such a feature, so who knows where Valve is on this topic.
Just like in the last topic, you have yet to actually supply an argument as to WHY this is a good idea when it just isn't.
Just because you don't like someone else's reasoning or opinion doesn't mean it isn't valid.
Users that have email accounts and have now old emails they don't even use, stuff that can also possibly have a huge email address for a user name for no benefit for them
Users that started their Steam account at a young age picking a silly name for the time, and regret that that can be nice for them to change it
Users there info is exposed and like to try and avoid people constantly trying to login to there account for trolling or what ver reason
Developer/Publisher that changed there company name but have to keep login with a name that may not be relevant something that will grow as time go by
Till now stuff that you can likely say "mha" on
Build the database right for further growth, the system was build as it was, but lets admit it if you leave it like that you invite it to get worst and worst as time go by, as you have less and less change to change it
Fixing this makes the database more flexible on over all function for the further as well
That's the point, none of those blenders ever brought up any proof to claim their "reports"
It is just something Valve lacks for a long time and all of a sudden they decide to implement it... Valve Time, ya know.
You have a point. I have been told that this feature may be implemented in the future. I don't think so honestly.
None of these matter though. A silly name that no one will ever see, Steam Guard protects accounts and again, that info is 100% private and no one can see it or even find out what it is without you literally giving it away, and it doesn't matter what devs/publishers can do.
None of these are good or valid reasons for Valve to put millions of dollars into rebuilding the entire database so you can change your login name, which again, only you know about.
Which does happen. Even banks occasionally get around to updating their legacy stuff. But it doesn't happen often.
But besides that the reason after all of them I think is pretty valid, that is simply best to unlock it as it may still create more issues down the road, in the end its best the DB is tied to something for the DB not a used data that can create issues later
