Well if you're going to be pathetic about it, then stop using our language.
I understand that, but it's just like asking the Portuguese to use the Spanish as a language on a platform as popular as Steam just because it's 'similar'. I haven't reached that stage in my life, but I would want my kids to be taught our way of spelling. I don't see it as much of an issue if they already cater for goodness knows how many languages. Google/Youtube have already acquiesced to it, so hopefully Valve will do likewise :)
Yet the client is available in other languages.
+1 for OP
Portuguese and Spanish are two completely different languages. Same as Dutch and German. Or Russian and Bulgarian. Just because they look the same to you does not mean they are. AE and BE on the other hand differ mostlyy through spelling and are perfectly understandable by the other side. A more appropriate example would be Brazillian Portuguese to Standard Portuguese or a French creole to Standard French. But even they have more differences than AE Vs. BE.
And mind you that nearly every game uses AE as well.
Americans taking advice about English from Brits is like Nirvana taking music lessons from Poison. We will screw the language up more just to spite you and we have no interest in talking like you. And it will come out better because of it.
Even so, translations seem to weirdly a community driven thing, no harm in trying here I guess: https://translation.steampowered.com/
It's not economical to add every dialect of every language. You're basically asking them to add in "southern" english as a language option, too.
