Remove "Add a phone number" from the Community Ambassador badge
I can't understand how my phone number or steam app ahtentication are correlating to "community". This is just a way to force users to give their personal information to complete a badge. This is an addition to a request to remove (or stop nagging) the requirement to add a phone number to your account.

How were you banned? You mean the page that pops up in place of the normal store? Scroll down a little and hit continue to store and you won't see that anymore.

They would not ban people from using the store just because they will not put in a phone number. They would rather get a bunch of money than get someones phone number which doesn't get them money.

Yeah dude I cannot agree more, why would steam need ur no. for security reasons? I personally feel like getting them an email is already enough.

well steam and e-mail can be hacked harder to steal a phone.
It takes more dedication (either physical theft or managing to trick your phone company) to steal text message content than email content. I only completed 28 out of 29 tasks, so you can do something else instead of entering your # if you think steam has any use for it.

I have 27/29 and a badge is completed. Not so much OCD, but it bugs me a bit, that i can't fully complete it because of this nonsense. Before that was a stupid FB requirement, now this.

Adding a phone number improves security for everyone. Many/some malware attacks and phishing scams spam your friends list with the same or similar attack.

Therefore it has everything to do with "community". Making this seem more alluring by having a badge is just basic business tactics to try to appeal to users to give the number. That way, less resources are lost because of all the security issues from the users that fall for all this nonsense.

Less loss of resources like human resources = less manhours spent on support = more profits for the business and better support for customers that do NOT fall for all this nonsense.

I am getting tired of being asked over and over for my phone number as well. Annoying messages have been popping-up begging for my phone number and other personal information every single hour I use Steam -- it's pathetic.

I only use my cell phone for work and emergencies -- not password retrieval and other bullcrap for data-collection purposes. This is not going to change for me.

If Steam continues to harass me into giving out my phone number and other personal information it isn't entilted to, I intend to move on to other services for PC gaming permanently. GoG doesn't do any of this nonsense. Hell, even ***ORIGIN*** doesn't beg me for my personal information as bad as Steam does these days.

Stop it.

Here we go again....this topic has already been started in a thread here...not specifically to the "badge" point perhaps, but still about this new feature...
