Steam added swiss francs today to steam. exchange ratio sucks ♥♥♥.
Hello
today steam added the swiss currency into their shops. And it's completely unfair.
Before we had to pay with euros(in csgo we paid 2.19 for a key) and now we have to pay 2.55 francs for one key!!!!! that's even more than the americans pay for it

They pay 2.49 per key wich is 2.44 in swiss currency. They make us pay 5% more than the amercians and 8% more than the euro guys.

This is ridcoulous, is there any way i can change my currency back to euro?

if not, valve, change this this is hillarious, you can't do this

so you were OK with it when you had the euro currency having to pay 2.19 euro = 2,34 $ per key and the americans paying with USD had to pay 2.49$ per key..

but now that you have to pay 0.02USD (2.55 Swiss Franc = 2.51 USD) more than the americans does it is somehow just ... not acceptable..

seems a bit like double standards but whatever enjoy giving that 0.00nothing to valve, it is just an outrage right.. bad valve!!

yea well, i was expecting smth like that. it IS ridiculous somehow. ac syndicate is 10 bucks more than in euro, but gta5 is 1:1.

i wish they had NEVER EVER introduced any other currency, i was happy with dollar prices. that was fair for everybody. :steamfacepalm:

i never said that it's fair that the euro key prices and the dollar key prices didn't match. but honestly, why would i care, it wasn't my problem. they should just fix it and put them all in for the same price, simple as that

Did you get any kind of economy classes in school? I wonder. Maybe I was lucky enough to get my education in The Netherlands before I moved here ;) When I go buy bread here, I pay around 4CHF, when I buy the same bread in France I pay half. Should I then go to my local bakery and ask him to sell me the bread for half the price, cause thats what I pay in France? Eventhough he has to pay his staff double the salary compared to the one in France? Also I dont like to pay more, but that is something else. However, there are retailers online that sell the games for less, even compared to euro's or dollars. You just have to be smart about it. You can buy Fallout 4 for 45CHF instead of the, what is it, 78CHF on Steam?

Eigentlich nicht so schlimm wie ich es mir gedacht habe :D

"Steam recently converted to Swiss Francs in Switzerland (from Euros). Like many others, I was worried about increasing prices, so I recorded some of them in advance to be able to draw comparisons. Here are the results.

Interestingly, many games used a simple 1:1 conversion, which results in roughly a 8-10% price drop. Others used the current conversion rate. Only a few prices increased significantly. On average the prices dropped by 5.22%"

Only valid if all the games were programmed in switzerland and the salarys were that hight.
-> don't compare bread to games (don't compare real to virtual products at all!)

You not even pay 70CHF for a "PC"- GAME à la RainbowSix Siege over here in a game-shop!

http://pichost.me/2027176/ ---> shop price

http://pichost.me/2027177/ ---> STEAM price

In that case, I maybeee gona buy them again over there...
Just think about it dear STEAM-team.

btw... AGAIN! Thanks STEAM - for deleting my previous comment.

The price change for Fallout is really messed up.

I mean, I can buy a retail copy for CHF 65.- and Bethesta asks CHF 74 on Steam?
Thats banans.

Fallout 4, for 45CHF at a retailer? Where did you get that information from? They will milk swiss people here also, like everybody does. A Steam Key is not Bread. I gladly pay 4CHF for my bread at the local bakery! Does Steam have to pay any staff based in Switzerland?

In addition to what a few others said currently, steam is the Walmart of digital games. Almost everyone wants their product on Walmart/Steam because they are the largest retailer of their kind and having your product sold by them means you are getting the largest pool of potential customers possible. Huge selection at a decent price. But just like Walmart if you look around you can often find a better price. With publishers having price control on steam it makes sense to keep games at medium price as if they keep the Steam price the lowest at all times then they would not sell many copies to other retailers (both physical and key retailers which are copies sold and paid for that they don't have to worry about getting revenue from and is secure income as a game could always flop.

I recommend www.IsThereAnyDeal.com for finding a decent price from a legit retailer. You can import your steam wishlist and set custom price alerts.
