Increase artwork size from 5mb to 10mb
For static artworks 5mb is fine, but for gifs it's just not enough.
A gif that's 800x600 has to be literally less than a second long (around 0.80 sec), at this point we may as well just upload a static picture. So if you want to use a gif you have to lower the framerate to something like 15 fps, and compress it 35% (already a 800x600 pic) for it to be under 5mb which just looks horrible, pixels everywhere and low framerate.

I already know there will be people coming out with the typical fake excuses like:
-"Valve reduced it from 8mb to 5 cause higher mb artworks takes longer to load."
If you look at speedtestnet's global index you will see that the average internet speed in 2024 is 56 mbps for download (way more than enough to load a steam profile seamlessly)
-"Storage costs money"
Valve make around $10b every year, they can easily afford it, money isn't the issue.

Money isn't the issue. Storage is cheap these days, especially to the company that already hosts 400 gb AAA games by the truckload.

Money is always the issue, and bandwidth costs money.

No, please lower it to 3 MB instead.

If you need 10mb to make a decent artwork, that's a legit skill issue.

Willful ignorance detected, there's countless professional artists who have been complaining about the MB reduction.
But since you're so good at artwork making, i'm sure you can show me an animated artwork of yours that's good and animated, and if you can't even do that then i automatically win this debate.

No bait m8.
I mean unless you're doing something for hi res print there's no real reason for artwork to be larger than 5mb. compression is a thing.

Do you know what a gif is and how it works?

I highly doubt m8, cause if you did you would have yet discovered that's impossible to have a gif that's 5mb be lengthy enough while maintaining lossless/seamless image quality.

Oh it's quite possible.. The Resize tool is your friend.

As for lossless. . You don't need losskless m8. Espesially if it's animated..

Ah okay, it seems like for some reason you can't understand the very essence of this topic.
Basically this:
-I want an artwork that's high resolution
-I want it to be lengthy enough to satisfy my needs (not yours)
-I want it to have a high framerate
-And lastly, i don't want to have to compress it cause it makes it pixelated.

"You don't need losskless m8"
M8, who are you to tell me what i need or don't need? Of course, maybe YOU don't need it to be lossless cause you are forever a "for low" settler, but some people have higher standards.

The average user here has a point of view about feature requests where he will assume simply because he does not use a specific feature, that means nobody had a valid use for that feature, which unfortunately means a lot of the discourse here is unconstructive.

People eventually have to understand "I have never uploaded an artwork and never will. I don't see why YOU need to" does not contribute to the discussion in a productive manner.
