why can't we delete threads
4/5 of threads get derailed within the first 10 minutes anyway...

though even disregarding that, why can't the poster decide to remove a thread?

You should be able to if you are the original poster of that thread. I am unaware of any restriction in any forums to remove the ability to do so.

Are you using the client or the website?

or if anything, it should be possible to block people from posting on your threads, since even blocking them doesn't disable them from posting on your threads

Just tested with my alt account in the TF2 gamehub and I was able to delete my thread by hovering over the opening post and clicking the "Trash" icon.

Which subforum of the TF2 hub were you posting in and I'll test there, too? (I tried "General Discussions" just now)

the client, could it be related to me having been banned once? ._.

(which was unjust in every way and i will never admit otherwise)

No, as that would be abused. People would block anyone that disagrees with them making it appear as if everyone agrees.

If you have an issue with off-topic posts, I suggest reporting the post so a moderator can look into them.

Maybe the Trading sub forum?

Perhaps right. You can't delete trading threads.

You CAN lock them stopping other posters, though, and removing your trade link.

No, it is the client. It does the same to me at times. This is why I use my browser instead.

it's not there in my browser either, and the button just disappeared here too...

Is there a specific thread of yours that you are wanting deleted?

Hm. Maybe it goes after a certain number of posts. Let me test more on my alt.

not neccacarely, the one i was having issues with already died out

anyway, the buttons are still gone, now here on the steam forum too, in both the client and my browser (chrome)

The delete button disappears when you have had seven replies to your thread (this includes your own posts in the thread). This is what I have found with a quick test on my alt.

I'm not sure if this is intended behaviour and will ask about it.
