Shared accounts = piracy
On some sites you can buy access to a shared account with one game for cheap. Hundreds or thousands of people play games this way in offline mode.

It's strange that the Steam hasn't done anything to beat this yet.

The new Family Sharing restrictions(which is what they use) will put a pretty big wrench in that market.

Outside of that, they can only ban/lock the account when they find out it's being sold.

This is one type of account. Others use a telegram bot to get the Steam Guard code.

Hence my second sentence.

with 40,000 games being sold that no body even plays i don't really think it matters, those games aren't making any money anyway nobody wants to buy the garbage. pretty much games are cheaper then a tank of gas but people need a tank of gas they don't need a game.

plus with so many old games for example ps2 and ps3 games are like a dollar each now a days, nobody is really worried about some 60 or 70 dollar game.

worried about piracy for games that don't sell is beyond pointless. plus if someone bought the game and wants to let a friend play it, that isn't my concern, steam can't do much about it anyway, less you go around waving your hands telling them your playing on a friends account. i wouldn't worry about it, you shouldn't worry about it either.

no point caring sucker is born every day, its debatable if the sucker is the person buying the game or the ones trying to sell it.

Hot games also included. And dlc.

chances are if someone is trying to purchase a hot new pirate game they don't even have a computer good enough to run it. heck i doubt my computer could even run any games released in 2024, also you could always just join a game store that gives away games for free, some have 50 dollar price tags, why would you need to engage in piracy sites that will most likely infest your computer with back door trojans and other nasty bit miners.

There's also places that sell full accounts if you look for.
The actual family sharing is already quite restrictive, but dumb people will do dumb things.

And just like accounts being sold Steam do act on this kind of stuff.

Is this even a meaningful vector? It feels like this is way more of a pain than conventional piracy
