Best to report and move on.
If you find posts that break the rules then feel free to report them. The post you referenced has not been reported.
The latter obviously but why do we need to be informed?
All the above. The latter was used solely to point out hypocrisy.
I disagree and think Steam could be more proactive.
So you define it as hypocrisy because it was your post which was removed and a warning given but perfectly understandable when it is someone else's post which you disagree with or which you may have reported.
I just noticed you're a moderator. You come across as kind of indifferent.
You admitted yourself you made a political joke. Someone reported you and rules were enforced.
Report what you think is political AND toxic not just what is political and you personally don't like.
It says "Do not post any content on Steam containing the following:"
In that list, "Religious, political, and other “prone to huge arguments” threads"
That should include SJW rants.
Rules and Guidelines do not need to, nor conform to a criteria you set.
You seem to believe that joke about Trump was innocuous so it was okay to post it and now want to fight the good fight on behalf of who?
Someone took offence at your post and reported it. Were they wrong to? No.
If a post offends you can report it.
And yet you do not put your Trump joke in the political arena, but actually broke a rule you decided to quote.
More importantly your thread is politically motivated or do you not deem it that way.
And

If you see something that breaks the rules report it, if the mod then thinks it breaks the rules they will deal with it, but don't expect mods to be everywhere at all times, as in the end there human
If you see something you think breaks the rules report it, and it may be taken care of
If you don't report it, it may not be found and therefor not enforced not because they don't want to, or not trying but because you did not do your part there
And friends, repeating ad nauseam that I can report posts I find is not going to change my mind that corporations can do a better job at policing the content they curate.
Go to friends chat settings.
Select "change chat filtering preferences" in the "Chat" section. You can add words you want hidden to the filter. These words will also be hidden in the community (that includes forum posts).
It's a new Steam Lab feature released just a few days ago.
P.s. by "ban" I mean only you won't see the words anymore.
Also, your question was answered by a ex mod and an mod first, just wanted to point that out.
Report is the best ways. Mods and ex mods do listen/care.
You linked a year old thread. Why both trawling around looking for some sort of justification and instead follow the advice given.
