Valve is well aware of the issue, all you can do is wait and see if Germany rolls back their law, or if Steam decides its worth spending the resources on.
Sometimes the best solution is to do nothing, and unfortunately its one users might not like, but it is indeed a valid solution.
Else, in the past, they once did say they were working on something, but I very much doubt they care to complete that task in any sort of rush. If it was immensely profitable, they likely would've finished it long ago.
Sadly Businesses will take the path of least resistance on these things .
And if there's less cost and less hassle to simp,ly just not sell something.. well...
If Valve sees a good ROI on something, then they'll implement it. If they don't, then they won't. And most likely dedicating on going resources to this issue is probably not something that offers any ROI.
nevertheless the solution for a valid age verification is absolute simple, at this point valve is just lazy to implement it in my eyes
Cost effective is not the same thing as lazy, nor is not caving into demands you find unreasonable to be lazy.
Why should every non-eu business/entity do everything a foreign nation demands, rather than making a good-enough solution and going about collecting money as-always? Again, if you have an issue with this, the resolution starts where the laws & regulations are made. This is a non-eu business and it does international trade, not everything another nation demands is worth even considering.
Valve implents far more complex systems for other silly functions.
Which is to say you don't have to convince THEM as they could not help you even if they wanted.
In the same spirit I can only offer an equally bad and unhelpful answer: given how much of the AO section of Steam is bara furry stuff, they are doing you a favor.
the requirements for this age verification are open for everyone to read, so its 100% clear what it's needed for a valid age verification.
its not just about AO games. what comes next is, that every game is blocked in germany if it in not aproved by the official youth protection istitution or did not fill out a self assessment form. so many indi games developern that are unaware for stuff like this, are banned in germany without knowing why.
