Steam failing to impress as a paid for game store , do more to make steam worthy of purchases
The title says it all. Steam is just lacking on all levels as a paid for game store, high resource hogging software, toppled with over priced games, and a complete lack of ethical or morally correct company employees.

Things like defective hardware, scammy early access game micro transactions, and inventory trade scamming and steam wallet theft plague steam users that spend money.

The suggestion is to people to consider just using steam for free, it's a ok service as free, but as a pay platform it's just a disappointment.

Most likely why b4b failed to impress and ultimately failed, no micro transaction left the customer with limited growth within the game, they should of offered more skins and zombie control units for purchase along with weekly stage map or additional act content
They did do that. There's 33 base maps. DLC added 11 more maps making it 44 in total + 7 non-campaign dependent hives making it 51, which includes more characters, a new difficulty, and a new mode that picks a random 4 maps in case a single campaign is too long.

This previous spring sale it was $6.99. The 3 DLC included with the base game was $10.
How is that game doing now?

Devs have finished with it after DLC 3, most of the major complaints for bugs have been worked out and they're on their next unknown project.

Before they finished it they made sure to add offline single player mode. Making your own campaign online to find players might be a challenge, but finding games in progress (called "Quick Play" is quite fast thanks to the game also being available on consoles.

Nice to see they stuck it through and at least got it presentable.. And hopefuuly they learned their lesson about marketing a game as a spiritual successor.

toppled with over priced games

The developer, publisher of those 3rd party games set the price.

Example products:

The Outer Worlds Spacers Choice Edition - £49.99 on Steam, Epic and GOG.

Metro Exodus Gold Edition - £34.99 on Steam, Epic and GOG.

Given that the OP hasn't spent $5 on Steam yet, I find it very unlikely that they have actually purchased "scammy early access games with microtransactions" or "defective hardware" and they're just trying to stir up trouble from nowhere.
Had he actually owned games on his account the posters on this board would say he refuses to practice what he preaches. Perhaps he had an account where he did so but he discarded it like an ascetic who reached enlightment

There is no such account.

The Outer Worlds Spacers Choice Edition - is free on Thursday, from one of the game gifting stores.

metro is several years old as is outer worlds, both are a clear example of steam trying to over price sell things that have lost all value to the point giving them away for free happens.

i also believe metro was given away for free a while back, but i could be wrong.

it all shows that the topic is correct failing to impress while trying to over charge for games that are given for free else where.

Let's get a bit of honesty here.
-How much do you want to pay for a Steam Deck? Without any debunked 'issues' being listed.
-How much do you want to pay for specific video games, the price they are vs the price you want? Why should it be that low?
-Why should extreme discounts be considered for non-paying accounts especially when they wont buy the things when they are discounted?
-What do you consider "resource hogging" when the average person sees ~500 to ~700MBs of RAM being used while other launchers with far less features use an identical amount of resources?
-Do you have any intention of buying anything on any of the accounts or just using the forums?

Devs/Publishers set the price, and a "+1" to ones own thread doesn't make a claim valid.

I've gotten AAA games for free on Steam, including some Battlefield games. You miss out on good giveaways done on Steam when not using the client regularly. Gotten other AAA games or really good games for free on Steam, EA, GOG & Ubisoft.

Some Developers also tend to give out DLC for free for anniversary celebrations or for when other DLC is released, else for reaching a sales goal.

As you've been told many times, Steam doesn't set the prices, the Developers/Publishers do. If you want a game for less, contact the Developer/Publisher.

ya, i dont know OP or what everyone has against the person.

needless to say and while i used to never agree with using a second account/ect.. im finding it to be smart with how bad these forums are and how people behave.

in the end, the more you watch, the more you learn.

but thats just my thoughts with what i have experienced in my years being here.

in any case, it seems you have to simply pretend things arent happening, so you dont get dragged into the nonsense, while knowing in the back of your mind, that moderation and support wont address issues.

and im sure OP has games on an account, just doesnt want to bring it the forums and i dont blame the person for doing it, assuming thats the case.

@_@

1. How much should I want to pay for a device that will offer me very limited use and satisfaction?
The Cost is pointless its the use in which it will provide, again if users want it they buy it price doesn't really matter.

2. How Much do i want to pay for a specific video game. well Not to much that i find it excessively expensive and or poorly made, I usally tap out at 20 dollars , ive got top quality games for 10 dollars why spend excessively for a new game that doesn't work right on a current system.

keep this in mind that almost all new games require newer hardware, so unless you just bought a new computer with top quality specs, you should really stir clear of new over priced games, the performance issues will happen.

3. why do extreme discounts happen? because nobody is buying it anyway, at least in store limited space requires the sale of unsold products to make room for new inventory, steam might not have this inherent space issue, however if nobody buys it it takes up steam server space with no benefit to steam. also why should someone who won't buy things be potentially sold something cheaper? maybe steam seems the value in trying to make a new customer?

4. resource hogging is when it becomes a burden to the system and causes performance issues and down grades the enjoyment of the user. if you run a older computer the resource hogging becomes higher, the performance drops are more extreme. software shouldn't be aimed to work correctly with brand new computers, it should be aiming to work with computers from 10 years ago. this alone reduces the resource hogging that is very apparent with in steam.

5. by using the forum i offer steam a chance to learn and to understand, and offer insight to the users of steam both young and older, with my perception of the industry and my many years of gaming. While my intent to buy from steam is drastically reduced due to the out cry from certain individuals within the forum , and countless attacks against me including some issues with user harassment and complete lack of professional quality from steam. I still leave myself open to purchasing games which i desire, am i less likely to purchase from steam because i seen how steam acts and how steam attacks its user base, that is a simple yes. however i leave myself open to the chances it could happen.

Why did you switch account to post on your own thread?

Secondly they are same price on each store that sells it, as the developer, publisher sets the price, full or when on sale.

Example:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1920490/The_Outer_Worlds_Spacers_Choice_Edition/

https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/the-outer-worlds-spacers-choice-edition - £49.99

https://www.gog.com/en/game/the_outer_worlds_spacers_choice_edition - £49.99

Currently £20.04 on GOG as it is on sale at 60% off.

A dollar amount, a specific dollar amount you are personally willing to pay, in exchange for a Steam Deck. This all started with wanting a steam deck for less, so how much in a specific dollar amount do you want to buy it for?

There's been numerous sales since the original and current accounts we've seen, many of them even went to 85-95% off, why not buy something on one of the accounts?
Is there a specific game you want for a specific price? Again, specific title, specific dollar amount you're willing to buy it for, that you will buy it for if it reaches that price.

Disinformation, no they dont. Very little actually require new hardware.

Steam sales are popular.
So why are non-customers owed some sort of mega discount compared to paying customers? Don't dodge it.

That also doesn't answer the question.
Again, ~500 to ~700MBs of RAM is nothing. What app with what specific RAM use do you consider "resource hogging"? How much RAM do you have installed?

None of the accounts are of any age or experience from what we've seen, so I don't believe there's anything positive that could be gained especially given previous stated intentions. Also most users tend to only use 1 account on the forum if they're posting in good faith.

People correctly & justifiably moderated for bad-faith/trolling/etc or alts of people aren't really good sources of "outcry" threads or subjects. Also no one is harassing you, nor has, and the previous quotes people have including the VMods show there's questionable intent. The same repeated lines from one individual controlling multiples is not adding any validity to debunked claims.

Professional feedback comes from regular customers, loyal customers, educated & professional points of contact, including criticism which they have taken from even loyal paying customers and have made changes due to paying customers feedback.

If the intent hasn't changed as stated previously, then I am questioning if this is good faith discussion.

We are just talking away , i dunno what to say, but ill say it anyway. So needless to say , at odds an ends but slowly learning that life is That way.

Oh, things that you say. Is it life or just to play my worries away?
All the things you've got to remember, I'll be Posting for you anyway.

to sum it up , having different perspectives of opinion is good. it informs the customer to make the choice that is right for them, and that is the key feature of the forums. Not pushing a agenda but a place to discuss and debate what we all see wrong and right with the platform.

if you notice something i am not concerned with any of you, but always enjoy the responses.
My focus is on steam, not on what any of you do in your lives.

I will add that, if you have a older system that has 2 gigs of ram, and you are hit with a 500mb or 700mb memory usage you are basically losing half of your system ram. if you are running 8 gigs, your losing close to 15% most people in the world running computers several years ago have less then 8 gigs of ram. Thats also disregarding the operational system usages.

Because the industry cheapped out and slotted 4 to 8 gigs in most standard store builds. so if you bought a computer in 2018 and your using steam chances are you got 4-8 gigs and steam is crippling your game performance just by running in the back ground.

one of the reasons i never buy prebuilts, they come pre-configured horribly, some with cheap hardware/parts, and as little as possible for the most they can charge.

i would rather buy all my hardware/parts and build from scratch.

my main pc, is around 7 years old, still running strong and has all the odds and ends, all the bells and whistles.

Odd comment based on you accusing others of being ex moderators, Valve employees etc while attempting to nullify those other opinions, in fact:

Your history of spamming, bypassing bans, and abusing the Steam Rules & Guidelines is well documented. We won't be removing any bans associated with that behavior.

And:

i make it a personal goal to get banned almost every day, so i can just load up another free throw away steam account and upset the same 20 people so they have a mental meltdown and cry to steam support.
