leave placeholder for deleted messages
how about a fraction more transparency of what's going on, eh?
just a smidge.
just an eensy weensy tad.

leave a placeholder where a forum post was deleted.
don't say who posted it.
don't say why it was deleted.
do say if it was deleted by mod or by user... or don't, it's an idea, not a demand, chill.

just baby steps.
one itty bitty adjustment.

literally about steam forums, not a game, hence here 😅😅😅😅
...you good bro? bad day?
I mean, sure. That will make discussions easier to follow when some messages get deleted for whatever reason.
I mean on the flip side it would be a nightmare when mods do a bulk cleanup and just make threads longer with dozens of posts you have to scroll thru of "This post was deleted" Or the users who would just troll and make lots of posts and delete to spam a thread with "this post was deleted" items making it even harder to read threads

I mean what benefit does knowing a random post from 12 pages ago was deleted, or that mods deleted 50 posts from a thread?

When 2-3 posts disappear at some point, it sometimes makes me miss context if those posts were at the end of the page I've already went through.

It's not a big deal, but I wouldn't mind if I knew that post count won't change randomly.
I don't know of any forum that does this.

Seems like mods are doing a good job removing non-related forum posts from threads, a few keep asking for it with suggestions whenever unrelated comments get deleted from threads. :cozycastondeath:

Yeah there are positives and negatives, but imagine a thread with 200 posts and 40 of them are deleted. And you have pages of posts where its 1-2 posts per page and spam of deleted posts when they bulk clean and delete them.

Would be very annoying to read 2 posts, go to the next page, scroll down and read 1 post then go to the next page and then read 4 posts and then have to scroll to the next page, etc.

Definitely it should not show users deleting posts, people would 100% troll and just constantly post and delete their posts to annoy others.

Why would I want a 'placeholder' because you want your utterly toxic posts to be 'available' for some inexplicable reason

Deleted posts exists on the thread, they're simply not visible to anyone other than moderators. We see your deleted posts. We know why you're banned. No one else needs a 'placeholder' for your nonsense

Calm down. There's no need to get this angry about a request.

Might have been better to actually read the topic before starting your little rant. 2/10.
serves no worthwhile purpose.
Well respectfully you have a place holder for you deleted messages in you activity history, you can always review it and chances are it was deleted maliciously and I you actually went and reposted something its doubtful it would be deleted again due to the inconsistency with both the moderation and those who engage in reporting abuse.

Unfortunately it doesn't stay permanently in the activity feed, the deleted message will disappear once you open the activity a few more times.
