Blocking an account does not hide everything but it should
I blocked this "Annoying Crow" account I keep running into all over the free games and that does NOTHING about their gazillions of "reviews", especially since they seem to get upvoted everywhere by people with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ taste.

I don't want to see them, that's why I blocked.

Alas, "the goggles, they do nothing", that part is excluded from the block for whatever crappy reason.

You not liking someone does not mean you have the right to stop them from posting in PUBLIC forums.
This is not Twitter or Facebook where you can make echo chambers.
These are Discussion forums, that means you get multiple opinions, even ones you may not like.

Where in this thread was stopping people from posting in the forums (or really, the forums at all) even mentioned?

The op said blocking does not HIDE everything...

what an incredible misread...
ehem, yes, I support this suggestion. it should hide every thing from the blocked user
TBS AlexDK Jun 5, 2024 @ 6:10am
As far as i know at least, the block feature is only blocking them from your profile and also blocks you from viewing their profile and such, it does not hide anything posted on any public faceing page ( other then the steam profile pages )

It blocks, or hides actually, any forum post and reply they make. You can still view each other's profiles.

I do stand corrected, has been quite some time since i last had anyone blocked
You will see (Blocked user - Show) whenever there is a post from someone you have blocked

Absolutely nothing to do with OP. What a remarkable post.

Calm down, okay?

I agree with your suggestion. I think it would also be fairly easy to implement.

And since it alreadt works that way I don't see the problem in extending it to all other forms of UGC. Have their artwork, reviews, workshop mods et al hidden from view.

I'm guessing it's because they want the block to just hide/prevent direct communication.

UGC isn't direct.

That's my guess at least.

I do guess how often can you encounter UGC from a blocked user as to be an annoyance to you. But for some people one is just enough.

I dont agree with Pscht's words, but the core of their request is not what you read it as...

Having it so blocking someone means you also dont see their reviews is in no way preventing them from making reviews.

its weird to me that anything someone suggests "make blocks hide better" or "make blocks keep them away from me" other people come in with "WHY YOU WANT TO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM USING STEAM! FREE SPEECH!@!!!!!#$WFSGDSH$$#@#AFFROTHYDROOLSPEWSFROMMOTH!"

No one is trying to prevent people from doing anything they would normally be able to do on steam..... they just want people that annoy them to stop appearing in their sight... in their threads.... to stop bothering THEM specifically.

As said elsewhere, in the internet we do not have spacial logistical complications from position or range of scope of exposure. You could potentially be seen by as many people if you post in someone elses thread as you would if you made your own thread..... one person, who blocked you, not seeing your review will have no impact on other people seeing your review. We can all go about our business, to and fro, without ever getting in anyone elses way.

unlike in person where if someone said they dont want to see you it could potentially mean you would not be able to go somewhere... enjoy something... or potentially be seen by other people besides that one person.

Stop using misnomer retorts.

To answer your question "Why you want to make blocks better"?

The answer is to prevent harassment, stalking, spam, trolling, scams, and etc. Everyone deserves peace of mind when using steam. This has been discussed in another thread. The reasons are the same.
