Permanent bans need to go
How is it a company can take someones money, but if they say something they don't like in the forums the can perma ban you without any warnings? I shared a video about homeworld 3 in homeworld 3 forums and got instantly got perma banned. It was a video about the game itself and I didn't even say anything even remotely bad about it, it was the first time I even posted in the discussions! How can steam allow companies to just permanently ban people? I have a few other bans in other games for just saying something they don't like, im not calling anyone names or swearing or using slurs, just saying how I feel about the game and just get banned. Perma bans need to go away for good because its really dumb that they can take peoples money no problem, but if you have problems and voice them they just ban you, not any warnings at all. It's so anti consumer and makes me hate even interacting or buying games. I keep fighting the bans but all steam says it "sorry we let them do whatever they want" and that's it, there is no fighting to get unbanned because they just don't care. I see people posting horrible things about the developers and people and they get a pass, I link a youtube video and get perma banned so explain that one. Steam even says to me poor moderation makes for a terrible experience but will do nothing about it. So whoever is at steam get rid of perma bans for good, you can take peoples money but wont let them interact with the community and thats just scummy. All they say is come here and make suggestions so thats what I did, but im afraid it will go the route of talking to support where nothing will be done.

Your sales agreement is for access to the game. Access to the forums is merely additional bonus.

While moderation can certainly be shoddy, permanent bans should stay. Heck, escalating bans is something that doesn't happen enough around here.

If you rack up a lot of bans in different game hubs, it might indicate what the common factor is..

As I said otherwise, game devs are the kings of their hubs. They have to be for the hubs to have any value. It sucks for some users but either you or the devs get screwed and Valve picked you. Sorry.

For game dev bans, it wouldn't be appropriate. There is no standard those bans are held to and there have been enough documented cases of abuse to ruin it for everyone. Permabans should still be allowed at game dev hub discretion but bans that don't align with Steam rules have no place being considered with Steam moderation

Asking someone to violate the rules against reposting banned content is itself a rules violation, as well as a sign of bad faith

I never asked for the OP to post the video or to violate any rules.

It seems you may have some reading comprehension issues.

:winterbunny2023:
Disagree. They should keep permanent bans.

Seems like you also have some reading comprehension issues.

The inference is enough.

I was permanent banned in DBD forum in steam , no warnings ago, just permanent ban, dont chance to appeal or something, i dont care really, i just said, DBD devs dont have good quality control or these is useless, then, they ban me permanently, just for say my opinion.

In short: They can be the king of their own castle here, or they'll be the king of their own castle elsewhere.

Steam tried for too long playing both sides of the coin. Now they made up their mind and became a mere middleware company. Only stepping in at an administrative level.

DBD boards are a bit of an egregious example, more and exception than the rule honestly (and I should know, frequented those boards until around the release of Cenobyte). Worse yet, I’m pretty sure the devs used to self moderate but that privelage was revoked due to abuse… so let’s just say things were actually WORSE at one point. Now it’s more a crapshoot depending on which mod you’re talking to and if it’s in relation to one of the regulars that are chummy with some of them on other media platforms, and since 90% of the discussions are bad faith screaming matches or bait wars and holy crusades against one camp or another (killer v survivor), the whole board is pretty much a cesspool with a few minor exceptions.

i've noticed that new dbd bans (real game bans for cheaters) no longer show up on profiles and i've been wondering about it. might be unrelated to what you're saying but anyway, do you have any source?
niralamart000 24 maj, 2024 @ 14:57
same thing with reddit, for some reason these internet nerds think normal people are these criminals and unless they talk and think like babies they should be banned. While actual trolls and hackers have made this their life, and actually bother to study the system to cause actual havoc while operating on that thin line or whatever clown nonsense.
Shreddy 24 maj, 2024 @ 15:54
Steam should kick devs that abuse the ban system off the platform, I remember years ago there used to be infractions and warnings but nowadays it’s a permanent ban for even asking a question a dev doesn’t like.

Honestly haven't played the game in ages so I really can't say for sure what the deal is with actual in game bans, and when I did it was mostly just a 5 man custom because trying to play any other way just leads to suffering imo....

idk about kick since it's THEIR forum, but perma bans shouldn't be a thing
