Better options for 18+ content
This is with no disrespect or judgement to anyone, no matter what type of games they enjoy.

I would like to ask for 2 additional functions in the filtering of games with 18+ sexual content.

1) Just because a person is not averse to being recommended games with this content, does not mean that they are necessarily happy to see that particular content out of context while scrolling the Steam store. Particularly if you happen to be scrolling the store in public or in front of friends / family. The only way to stop this seems to be to hide these games, and it's not all of them that are a problem, or not necessarily in all contexts. It would be best if these games could be indicated for 18+ content in some other way, and the preview of that type of content be accessed only on clicking on the item (or something else that requires inferred or explicit consent). It feels really odd to have a site that is not specifically 100% explicit just casually spamming searchers with highly explicit scenes while scrolling.

2) Please find a way to differentiate between stories that may have something beyond kissing in them and stories that are very heavy in sexually explicit actions / functions (e.g., hentai). These are 2 different things and different people may be comfortable (or not) with either one of them. It would also help developers not to be mistaken for porn for including one intimate scene as part of an in-depth story. Sometimes porn is what people are looking for, but when it's not it's important to be able to differentiate.

Right, you want such filters to be selectable on the search page?

How are the current options not exact? They provide examples in the options via a link so people can understand what is getting filtered.

Just trying to get clear what it is you really want to suggest.

Have a bit of a look at the other replies on the page I've just put up :) It's about when and how you see the content, not about the type of content :)
Except that the type of content is important for legal reasons. It doesn't matter if a game has 5 explicit scenes or the whole game is explicit, it needs to be rated Adult Only then.

So, to get this straight, you basically want an Adult Only 1 and Adult Only 2 category. Where one of them is for the game with 5 scenes and the other for the (almost) whole game being it.

I came to the forums to bring up the same thing.

"Adult Only" does not mean "Porn Game". And while the filters may or may not include subjects that deal with explicit sexual themes, just the name along makes me not want to enable it for fear of not seeing anything that's too difficult for children.

In the context used in the preferences, Adult Only means games with pornographic content. There are examples of what is included in the preferences section.

Adult Only Games games that display the Adult Only flag on them, so games like The Witcher series will not be effected.

Except the Adult Only filter fixes all your complaints.
Either enable it, and not see any adult games, or simply don't complain about any adult stuff.
Also, videos don't play by default unless you look at the game's store page, and don't have an image selected.

I've never seen an adult game on Steam that forces you to see anything without even looking at the store page.

I'm sorry, but there really is no reason to need advanced options when one option already does what you want.

Hi there! There was no complaint in my suggestion, it was simply a suggestion. These games do appear in your queue and they begin playing the video the moment the page comes up. Also, if your cursor hovers over a game on a sale page, it will start going through screenshots and they are often very explicit.

If this suggestion is not to your liking that's no worries, but a suggestion is all it is. It's for the consideration of Steam staff.

Adult Only Sexual Content is OFF by default. If you are seeing said content you enabled it, or someone with access to your account did.

Thats not what the OP is suggesting.

As a matter of fact its better said that one of his issues I believe Valve is covering in their current Beta which is to hide select games from the public on your profile, the other issue is just simply hiding adult things on the store page while not disabling the adult game view if say, someone is in the room.

Tho, I do believe that 2nd issue can be covered with the family control system on Steam, at least normally it can hide games in your own library when its on but for the store page...? Idk there.

To the OP: There is a way to hide these games temporarily if you do it by the tags
If you go to your store preferences and exclude the following tags: Hentai - NSFW - Memes - Horror (all 3 sometimes) then you should be able to narrow down those stupid puzzle games that are just looking for a quick buck and it should hide them on the store page as well. I have all horror tags blacklisted on my end because despite not having horror games in my library, the store kept recommending them to me and showing them on the store page, hiding the tag seems to hide them on the main store as well

Adult Only Sexual Content falls under 18+ content.

You didn't read his post then as it clearly states a better way to filter the good and bad adult games...not adult content itself dude.

I did as did others who also referenced Adult Only Sexual Content but you chose to ignore those.

Does it? I have Adult Only disabled and I never run into those games.

*Jameson laughs just before glaring at you in serious*

Which is exactly how they fall under the content category regardless. What's your point then?

Just offer 3 Options instead of 2:

1. (Default) Hide Adult-Only content
2. Show Adult-Only content
3. Show-but-Blur Adult-Only content, every time, until you click to reveal it.

Only if you have the autoplay feature enabled in your profile settings. I turned it off.

porn games should just have their own tag, rather than being couched in the 'adults only' euphemism that also includes a few edge case non-porn games. it's not really that deep imo

Can you give an example of something that would be tagged as "adult only sexual content" but not be pornographic?

the fear and hunger games are tagged as AO due to their explicit portrayals of sex but i don't think any reasonable person would deem them porn
