Steam broke its browser look overnight
They decided to add the Windows Theme for some unknown reason, now it (the store, community, forums...) looks like ass

When will these companies (Riot, Epic... Valve now apparently) learn that mixing a forced-dark theme, and an unknown one set by the user (my case, light) looks godawful :steamfacepalm:

That's because light themes are for maniacs.

I just wish they would focus on QoL instead of the appearance. Some games basically warrant the use of community guides and the overlay which I still stand by is something Steam succeeded with early on got a great update. But the browser in it leaves much to be desired.

If you're playing a game where you're dependent on a guide and only have one monitor, you will be dependent on the in-overlay browser letting you scroll through easily. But you can't. Middle-mouse button the part of the browser and it will barely budge up and down (scroll-wheel scrolling).

What about ctrl-f and search? Don't bother pressing enter because it won't jump to the next term.

QoL > aesthetics any day

Is that an actual setting? I don't see it.

Looks to me like Steam just isn't handling the html css. Some of that client css is stored in the Steam install files.

I had a similar problem yesterday, but the page was white and more corrupt. I had to go into the Steam settings and Clear Cache, reboot and that fixed it.

Windows 11?

Because I don't have this issue on my Win 10 device. In the beta channel.

ye, win11 theme :/

Also, I'm not on the Beta channel >.<

Do you reckon I should post bugs on "live release" there, or somewhere else? (wasn't sure, so I just made a general discussion :/)

nah, it's my windows 11 theme. You can disable its use in firefox. But it completely screws the League of Legends and Epic Game clients. Mainly because it's mixing light and dark themes with 0 control

Yeah. plus aesthetics are subjective :/. so "improving" is just making it better for some, and worse for others.

Are you running anything on your PC or network that could be interfering with Steam's CDN servers? Looks to me like a stylesheet failed to load.

Have to agree with the other people replying - that doesn't look like it's being caused by a theme, that looks like it's being caused by styles failing to load.

I think I saw something similar when I loaded the Steam website on a Windows 7 VM in Internet Explorer because it couldn't recognize the certificate used by one of its CDNs.
