The review system needs to change.
Steam needs to change the review system or their practices.

Games that were mixed to overwhelmingly negative have been changed to overwhelmingly positive from the amount of reviews deleted.

Not all of those reviews were "off topic" or violated the community guidelines, if Steam is going to silence customers then maybe they should change it it to straight like or dislike rating and leave comments to forums, that's just my idea and I'd like to hear more from others, because our current system of silencing customers is garbage.

If all the reviews on Ultrakill about robot sex are on topic, then the removed reviews were almost certainly on topic as well.

I've seen reviews be removed for complaining about the price of dlc, the reason given was being off topic. If the customer is upset that what they bought cost too much, and delivered too little, then it was very much on topic, it was also to inform others not to waste their money.

Don't review the base game for the DLC. You review the DLC separately.

I'm sure they did. I'm also sure they weren't unconstructive in their review either.

Some were constructive but considering it's a customer review, it's more about giving other people information before they buy it. The problem with the current system is, they go in and mass delete.

If you don't take the active feed back constructively then whats the point of the review system anyways?

The review bomb filter serves a valuable and necessary purpose. It's not at all about "silencing" people, but rather about maintaining the integrity of the review system so it's as useful as possible in helping people find games they will enjoy.

But here's the beauty of it: If you don't approve of the practice, you are free to disable the filter and see an aggregate that reflects all reviews including review bombs. Everybody wins!

I don't believe you have. Having said that, an individual review deleted for being off-topic will not have an effect on a game's aggregate.

The reviews about robot sex are not numerous enough to have a statistically significant impact on the aggregate. That's an important distinction.

They don't mass delete. Review bombs are still present and still visible by anyone if they so choose.

Whether or not it was, it wasn't "off topic."

Calling someone a liar is not really the best way to start a discussion. Also we aren't even talking about review bombing so you are in the wrong thread and just arguing against something I didn't say.

This thread is talking about the problem with the current system and suggestions on how we can improve it.

I didn't call you a liar. I'm correcting your mistaken claim.

Review bombing is the only times reviews are acted on en masse. Claiming individual reviews deemed off-topic as "mass deletion" is entirely inaccurate.

Except some of those times have not been "review bombing" but a large number of customers getting upset with something the devs did to the game. Again a problem with the current system.

To be fair, really, this forum is explicitly for people who aren't Valve employees to roleplay as such so they may gaslight or otherwise abuse you for having made a suggestion about a Valve practice or policy.
