Here is an easier suggestion, get a gaming mouse with a whole lot of extra buttons and set one of those buttons to take screenshots when you press it. This way you don't have to stop the action for a shot to be taken and you can have it take a screenshot when its actually interesting. If you rely on steam to auto take screenshots every x seconds, chances are you're gonna miss a great shot you want, unless you take it yourself, which really defeats the reason having the auto screenshot. There is also no way for steam to know how long your gaming session could be, it could be 5 minutes long, it could be 3 hours long, so saying take 20 screenshots in a session is pointless.
The way you want to do it is gonna take up a huge amount of hard drive space. Its also going to take up a bunch of time when you have to go back though 20, or 100 or 1000 screenshots to find one or 2 you want to upload. And I like I mentioned, you're more then likely going to have to take the screen shot yourself to get a picture of what you actually want.
Now thats one I could get behind, cause sometimes you have no idea you even got the achievement till after the game is over
I then open up a videoplayer, go to the point which was nice looking. Pause. Take a snapshot of that. Then place it in the game's screenshots and thumbnails folder and restart Steam.
The pictures won't be as sharp, but they're something at least and I don't have to take the screenshot in real time to manage.
I know Logitech's software allows for this kind of thing, I could bind my screenshot key to a G key and have it toggleable where it'll "press" every x seconds. I belive it depends on the software you use, but I think it's do-able via most :)
It could be similar to how uplay takes a screenshot every time a new achievement is unlocked.
