i would like to close steam without using CTRL ALT DELETE

for those of us with busted hands, we keep hitting big picture mode instead of exit. this is a large problem.

when i right click on steam in the task-bar, "big picture" is next to "exit" in that menu. its total nonsense placement beacuse they are exact opposite functions; BP activates more junk, soaks up more resource, and is nothing but a hindrance and obstacle to exit from when you're trying to exit in the first place.

an example: I'm running applications and I open steam. it starts to download even though my global settings are to not download until run. i try to close steam, but BIG PICTURE opens up. my work apps start to malform. i try to turn off big picture. my computer shuts down.

The very first request to be able to disable Big Picture entirely came about 1/32 of a second after BP debuted. Dunno how long ago it was but it was long enough to realize that Valve has not a single give a #*% in its eye. It's one of the reasons I stopped giving 'em money.

But for the other issues unless your work involves Steam in some way, for the time being wouldn't it be simpler to just turn off Steam while you're working?

@OP i made a skin some time ago to hide it, i can try to dig it up if you like, may help you, even more as it sounds you do not want it at all

Big Picture mode is a very annoying cluster [****] when actually wanting to hit exit. This default categorization is horrible lol.

I wish there was a way to remove that BP icon next to the minimize button. If I had 1c for everytime I misclicked it I'd be a very wealthy man.

Switching to Alt + F4 for closing Steam Browser has saved me about $8 so far.

Another idea is to change Windows to show the classic context menu when you right click it, instead of the new one.

You can do this by using 7+ Taskbar Tweaker.

I agree with you. They should have instead improved navigation options and implemented text resizing in the main Steam client to make it controller friendly, rather than make a whole new mode.

Huh? I've enver had big picture turn on in 7 years of being on steam. You must have something set wrong.

If I got you right,.you can use a skin for that

Many skins remove the button from the screen, or change it's size or location.

Although the best way to fix the issue would be to actually click where you want to click and not randomly click on other icons. If you are hitting something OTHER than the item you want to select, that is your issue and even if the button wasn't there, Steam wouldn't close as you wouldn't be on the close icon!

For this I disagree. The "best" way to fix the issue would be to give us the option to remove the icon.

I get what you're saying. It is *my* issue. I've got ALS, so my hands don't work like they used to, and it's very, very easy to make a slight error in mouse placement. It's all of about a 20 pixel diffference between that BP controller icon and the minimize icon. Totally *my* issue but... but... Steam could help fix it for me quite easily, without me having to switch skins or whatever. Just let me disable BP entirely and the problem would be solved. Nothing wrong with options.
