Not all VR headsets have as much of a problem with lens glare and god rays as the Valve Index.
Turn off some settings in your games graphics options. This has nothing to do with the hardware as already mentioned. You might have to play with different settings to figure out which ones do which, but again its not the hardware doing it.
If you don't have the option to turn certain them off, then go ask the games developer to put those options in.
There is nothing in game settings that determines whether you see lens glare or god rays. It has to do with your VR hardware, the optics used, the type of lenses used, the type of display panel used, etc. There are a combination of several factors in the VR headset hardware that make it more or less likely that lens glare or god rays will be visible to the VR player.
Some VR headsets have more or less of a problem with lens glare and god rays than others. This is an issue that can and should be fixed at the hardware level.
My advice is if you are going to co-opt those terms you need to carefully to define your usage as the screen quality is such you get unwanted glare, something like lens flare, and unwanted lighting, like god rays.
Otherwise what you're saying is ambiguous and it's hard to know if you have an issue with the device or don't know how to configure game settings.
No.
What am I supposed to do in the settings to get rid of lens glare and god rays?
I'm not "co-opting" these terms, I'm using the standard terms that have been used for years to describe this issue. Lots of people have mentioned lens glare and god rays in particular to describe some of their experiences playing with the Valve Index.
