Ability to upload Clips
And I don't mean just linking your YouTube channel. Literally uploading clips at a certain length or size (25, 50 or 100 MB) directly to our profiles/Steam and the community. I understand this would take up quite some bandwidth. However uploading short videos directly to the platform like we do with gifs would be great.

Idk why everyone is talking about bandwidth and costs; The simple answer is likely that they don't want to moderate videos being uploaded and the fact that there's already a bunch of services for uploading clips.

Afford? Sure.
Ready to waste money for nothing in return? No.
Valve is not a charity.

They’re making a percentage off everything they sell on here. Waste money? For 25 MB uploading? Oh wow. Really gonna break the bank getting a few more servers to host uploading for videos.

Not to mention the countless of other opportunities other than YouTube I mentioned.
Lmao, well said! Well, prepare to pay a monthly $50 subscription plan when uploading a small 15MB video clip... :lunar2019crylaughingpig:

They make enough money and I explained myself above.

It is irrelevant how much money Valve makes when Google already provides a service for your needs, YouTube.

If Valve did everything people wanted them to do just because "they make enough money" Valve would not have any money..... They would be epic, losing hundreds of millions a year, not making a single cent at all. The only reason why epic is still around, is because of fortnight money.

People want more space for images.
People want to be able to upload videos.
People want translation built in.
People want free weekly games.

People want lots of other stuff that costs money.... people want a does everything program, but do you know what a "does everything" program does well? Nothing....

People need to learn that there are limits to what companies that make a lot of money can and should do.

Hosting videos is not one of them. Heck I'd be ok if they removed the ability to upload gifs and screenshots. Or at least put more limits on them.

Also just because they make a lot of money, doesn't mean they don't spend that money on stuff. Valve has servers all over the world, they have to pay for all the bandwidth they use. They have to pay for steam support. They pay for your banking fees.

For all we know 90% or more of the money they make each year is spoken for in other costs. Doing all the things that people want, make those costs go up... and you know how much they would get back out of it? Nothing because people want it all for free.

What of inappropriate videos that are uploaded? Seems like an uncessary need to moderate this when one could simply post a link to a video on their profile.

What about the animated .gifs that you can already upload to your profile... ?
I'm fine with just using up that server space for games. It's what I got this service for.
Surely nobody would think about abusing such a feature.

Of course nobody would upload straight adult content, heavily brutal real-life clips or copyrighted material and other weird things.

DMCA also is a thing, i guess there already is enough stuff on Steam that is taken down on a regular basis.

How would Steam be able to moderate millions of profiles? Not possible, if it's not being reported.

It's entirely irrelevant how much money Valve has in bank and how much it's making. If they're going to invest money on something, they want that something to make the money back several times over so first thing you need to explain is how your proposal is going to make Valve more money.

Sole reason Valve exists is to enrich it's owners, in short make money.
