Getting Triggered over Talk of Trolling an Trolls on Steam Forum
Steam needs to really update its policies on this, some users continue to go around calling everyone a troll and its super annoying and turns the forum into a battle ground of argument. it needs to stop, calling a user a troll or even suggestion they are trolling is just an other form of Name & shame, it just needs to stop.

Its bullying and we don't accept bullying in society any more, we should no longer accept it on steam forums.

People need to be able to have discussion without being accused of anything.

Updated with reflection

there is no truth revealed when you lie about people, its very disgusting to see steam users attack each other, what is even more disgusting is it is high level steam users.

i think its obvious how high level steam users won't leave low level users alone to their opinions, its turned into a attack at every turn, they try to discredit users who disagree with them.

What is a real shock is how steam seems afraid to stop these bad actors and allow them to continue to attack an ridicule other steam users.

as steam users we aren't asking for miracles, just that the double sided and negative comments directed at everyone who isn't them, Stops.

steam could easily clean up this mess by taking action against the attacks, being a real company for once that protects all of its users.

Some of you seem profoundly unhappy with the forums and should probably find some other form of entertainment.

If y'all actually getting your jimmies rustled by randos on an internet forum, you need to log out, go outside, and think about what you want to do with your life.

Because it's probably not "argue with the Internet folk", and you need to figure out what it IS and go do it. Because you can do better and I believe in you.

(If it is, in fact, "argue with the Internet folk" then I sincerely hope you get better.)

No, the only thing I did was pointing out a fact: a lot of people are here just to oppose suggestions and cause conflict, as their post history proves.

The thing is, not every idea is a good idea. Isn't it an old axiom or something that like 99 out of 100 ideas are just bad ideas? That's just the way it is.

There's nothing wrong with others pointing out flaws in a suggestion and explaining why they are flaws when looking at it from a developer or Valve point of view, because those POVs are just as, if not more, important than the consumer POV. And practically ever suggestion I have seen here fails to take that into account.

Personally speaking, I will often take the opposing side to a suggestion when I think the person making the suggestion has failed to make a good case for it, or is using bad arguments to support it. I will do this even if I actually support the idea 100%. I do it to help the OP strengthen the position and defense of the idea. Sadly, most fail to be able to do that.

Certainly, and the opposite is also true, no?

Post history does not make insulting people valid according to the rules

Fun fact: some people got warnings and bans over pointing out previous behaviour of other users.

Nah, those people just can't do so without insulting users. As they have been repeatedly told and keep ignoring it's all about HOW you say it. Sadly some people seem to be incapable of following the most basic of rules.

Odd you chose to call it "fact" while excluding your own post history and those of your friends on that selfsame forum.

They must be edgy contrarians who think it's cool to just be devil's advocate... All the time.

Excluding my own post history from what? I don't get it, sorry.

And what my friends have to do with this? If you wanna see their post history, I can make my friendlist public, feel free to read.

Amazing. I'll be honest this is not only proper old school internet behavior (Just come back after a power-tripping mod bans you and ignore it) but he actually provides entertaining thematically content while doing it, not even violating the rules just using everyone's complete disagreeableness against them to make 100+ post threads because none of you can let an argument go. THIS is a real gamer.

I understand for most people forum rules are the most super serious thing in the world and there is no greater insult that shakes you to your very core than someone disregarding them, but I honestly think all this animosity could go away and you could turn a bait poster back into a normal poster if you just loled along with him and stopped trying to do this silly one-up game to show how clever you are at internet arguments. (I literally must say you're all extremely clever and great at internet arguments only because it is literally against the rules for me to say anything else about your abilities in that regard.) If he's putting in posts with this much effort and this much charm, this is a guy you could turn back into a friend just by putting down the ego and having a few laughs with him.

Did you forget you posted on this thread.

Calling someone a troll is an insult and insulting other Steam users is against the rules of Steam. OP has the right of it here sadly. Calling someone a troll is clearly against the Steam rules.

While literally having quotes from the OP and their intended usage of these forums.

i make it a personal goal to get banned almost every day, so i can just load up another free throw away steam account and upset the same 20 people so they have a mental meltdown and cry to steam support.

And yet you try to absolve them of any wrongdoing while ironically on another thread you posted the following including the word troll.

This is a very unhealthy way to live, and you should really work on catching yourself from falling into these little traps where you constantly rearrange words just to troll. It is a very bad habit.

While you contradict yourself with.

I am afraid I do not understand the contradictions here. I am simply describing what the Steam rules are accurately. Just because someone drives 70 while saying the speed limit is 60 doesn't mean you scored a big gotcha.

This is clearly a problem with post history. It ends up being read a lot by people who are not capable of understanding the posts themselves or the context. Like "absolving" lol. I am not absolving anything.

Is it too much to ask that people read for comprehension? My posts are not unclear but there is a tendency of regulars here to be more interested in trollish sniping word games and emotional overreactions

So since you think calling someone a troll is an insult, would you agree that your comment trying to call me a troll should be removed?
Platinum - is when you can change someones views in a situation, offering them a logical choice that shows whats currently going on is wrong. with such logical insight that they can't help themselves but agree with your topic and solutions.

I really liked the getting along and having a good time with users post, that is why we are all hear, to just have fun an be friendly, I enjoy all of you, your choices and out looks. I am glad to have some people on my side, and glad that we have those against us simply to show everyone how people act and the take away of the topic.

on this thread we have people who try to use post history to name and shame, and make assumptions over other users or thing said. It easily shows that jokes and laughter can be easily taken out of context by over serious personal.

We had a great thing together , that as gamers we can enjoy each others company outside of the games we play by sharing discussions.

We all need to cherish the fact that the only trolls that exist are the ones we create, keep in mind if any of you played D&D trolls regenerate and if you cut them up or slice off limbs you will soon have two trolls to deal with. Fire is the only thing that will kill a troll.

We need to burn out the exist by burning out trolls that seek to make more trolls. What this means is the people that attack, harass, respond negatively, and insult users over topics are the cause.

I see a lot of good people who are defending one another against the constant attacks, many of us have been mistreated by the same individuals who accuse us all of being trolls.

Yes i heckle steam trolls because we are not the trolls we are the Troll Hunters who have appeared on steam to take back our Forum and to stop the small band of misfit posters who think they own this place.

Welcome to a better steam, where we are all part of the community.

I did no such thing, so no such post should be removed. Do you think you should be exempt from rules regarding insults?
