Post history should be private
Post history should be private, as it leads to stalkers, etc. Only a moderator or valve employee should see post history. As we do not need to see it, we should only see the post we are stareing at and that is it. However moderators and valve employees should see post history to determine if that user is violating one of the rules for steam platform.

Add a option to choose post history as private if private only paid moderators and valve can see it.

For those who don't want it private can just not check the box.

As we users want our privacy for the reasons already stated and comments in this thread have prove my point of why post history should be private or a option to choose it as private.

Do not lock thread because of the attackers below. There is people simply being rude for no reason.

Just remove the bad replies or leave them but don't lock thread please and thanks as me and others wants post history private.

It happens. Not everyone is a kid who can see ….

Can see …. what?

“People overlook that public spaces are public therefore we should cease to have public spaces?”
Steam should do more to support marginalized communities. I agree with OP.

Really hmmm I guess hackers would agree with you so they can keep stealing people's social security and other things all because the internet is the place to do it.

While I disagree completely I rather not be a target for hackers.

Go tell everyone on social media and on YouTube and other sites that hey I don't think hackers review history of victims better yet why don't you tell them your steam name and where you posted and tell them about post history and watch as they searched through your entire post history while you do not know then boom now your account gone.

And if you truly believe that post history isn't a tool for hackers to get your information easier then feel free to post it on YouTube and social media sites then I'll wait and when you complain that someone hacked you don't worry I won't say I told you so because internet is a place where people don't get teach or schools would of teach this stuff as soon as you can read and write.

You are making absolutely no sense.

Your a kid then or do not understand the internet world and will most likely have your identity stolen when your older by the internet as you would be a easy mark.
I wouldn't try to insult someone by using the wrong version of "you're".

False they do check post history. Gl test it if you don't believe the whole world and live in a bubble.
I don't need to test anything. My posts here are as public as are yours.

Been dealing with account thieves and 'hackers' roaming on this forum and their fallout for years. I know pretty well the way they operate.

Messaggio originale di Fishie:
Post history is a bad thing only valve and paid moderators should see it no one else.
For the umpteen Your post history is ALREADY PUBLIC regardless of the link exisiting.
Anyone can see and search for it WHETER OR NOT THE LINK TO YOUR POST HISTORY EXISTS.

It's as trivial as using the Steam Search, if you want an example Here's everytime anyone has quoted you:
https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/search/?q=quote%3DFishie

You can find my posts too if you want them too:
https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/search/?q=quote%3DTito%20Shivan

Your a EX mod and you know some of the volunteers were corrupt they probably helped those to make the mark easier. Sooooo and if your a expert on this, post something that is personal and watch as your identity is stolen.

Some People make mistake and then post is there then when they realize it it too late because it has 7 replies to delete or too late to edit it because they already seen it. Post history is a problem. Only valve and paid moderators should see it. As we do not need to see it. Prove of this is one user already commented troll as you can see people are using post history to target and attack users and hackers use this as well. To say they don't would be a lie.

You still haven't explained how hackers use post history.
List of undeniable facts revealed by this thread:

Fact #1: All suggestion threads, with nearly no exception, are immediately shot down by the same group of 4-5 people.

Fact #2: Steam is considered the perfect platform around here, especially by the aforementioned group. Valve can do no wrong and the Steam client needs no improvements. Nor does the Store, Community, or Discussions/Forums.

Fact #3: Stalking and harassment of users is encouraged especially if they do not accept or repeat the common mantras and rhetoric of the forum. Doubly so if they are critical of Valve.

Fact #4: The regulars have special privilege so long as they are praising Valve at every step.

That is why being able to view post history is so important to these people. Changing it would suggest that Steam is not already perfect and that Valve made a mistake by making it viewable by other users. Not acceptable. Changing it would also take away their power to more easily stalk and harass specific users who do not praise Valve's perfection and everything about their platform. Also not acceptable.
I told GabeN about what you said and he said "just for that, I'm delaying the back button fix release for another 2 years from its initial release." but just between you and me I don't think his team knows how to fix it anyway.

Still no acknowledgement that “public” and “private” are distinct concepts, eh? :DungeonAngryMelon: We’re never getting beyond the rudiments at this rate!

None of those are "undeniable facts" unfortunately.
