Can we please separate the pointless sex games from actual adult content?
Just cause it has heavy sex material doesn't mean that it has to be on the same preference as some stupid porn game where you collect wifus and screw em. Please add an additional preference to separate adult games with heavy sexual and abuse themes AND CONTENT from just porn filler trash which God knows why you people have allowed.

I would have never found about this game called Fear and hunger if it wasn't a random click on youtube and guess what i love it, i'm gonna go buy it and apparently a SEQUEL????

Steam you are actively hurting developers right now cause of this un/intentional bias towards mature titles cause right now there is absolutely no way to separate these two amazing games from a booby game. Either just remove all this filler trash or slap store preference on them called "TRASH" so i will never miss out on gems like fear and hunger 1 and 2. And i would have gone years without caring about it, just how many others have i missed now...

Already done.

https://store.steampowered.com/account/preferences/

Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content
Games or content that primarily feature nudity or sexual themes. By ticking this box you affirm that you are at least eighteen years old.

Adult Only Sexual Content
Games or content that are sexually explicit or graphic and are intended for adults only. By ticking this box you affirm that you are at least eighteen years old.

The developer of Fear and Hunger decided to list their game as Adult Only Content. If there is a lack of such content in the game, then they could have it classified differently.

I second what Spawn of Totoro has already said, this feature is already present and enabled by default. You must have disabled the filter.

did you see seriously not even take the time to see the examples of adult only content, this is aimed at steam to implement, just don't worry about it ok.

He's not wrong. If you are seeing adult content, you opted in at some point and then forgot that you did.

The store and preferences are working as they should.

If you take issue with X game being marked as adult by the game developer, take your complaints up with them.

i'm not going to repeat myself, read my post to understand what's being stated here. If you still can't differentia between each criteria then i couldn't care less. This is a suggestion for steam whom i'm going to assume are well versed in the English language and have rudimentary comprehensive skills.

It's up to the developer. What is so difficult about that to understand?

Woah, let's back up a bit. I don't think OP is the usual "Why am I seeing sex games after opting into seeing the sex games." type of poster.

"Fear and Hunger" does indeed fall under the "Adult Only Sexual Content" category, and not merely the "Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content" category.

I think what OP is asking for is separate categories for actual decent games for adults only, versus the rest of the shoveled crap.

Not really an easy ask. It is an unfortunate fact that the vast majority of "adult" games are low-effort garbage banking on just porn for porn's sake to make a quick buck. What makes it difficult is that there's no hard line to determine what's a "good" game and what's a "bad" game. Yes, there are those at the extremes that most everyone can agree on, but get closer to the middle and you'll start getting wildly different opinions on which games are good or bad.

I think the only thing you can do is wade through the crap and use the user ratings system and outside information to find the occasional gem among the filth.

After looking at Fear and Hunger I see why its there.

The game is a classic situation where it looks nonmature on the surface but contains adult themes within it above what even GTA has, in this case it deserves the mature tag as it effectively would be played on the A-Rated games if were the ESRB anyways for having sexual content of any form, it has nudity and sexual content which from a foolish persective I would of said is M-rated at best

...That is till I discovered it has a very deeply hidden rape scene of a guard raping another male, ya it has a very out of place and hard to find gay rape scene within the game so unfortunately it indeed is automatically an adult game. Same happened with GTA when Hot Coffee was a thing, lest we forget how GTA had for a short time, a rated A game, not M game that was patched back to M

Edot: Oh large mistake, no the game involves several forceful rape, and default sex scenes made in RPG maker so no it is 100% an adult game, hell there's a part of a massive orgy of people wearing rabbit masks in the bloody game.

Yes, I have seen the examples. All are pornographic in nature, hence the Adult Only flag for them.

The developer chose to list it as Adult Only. I don't have the game, so can't say as to why, but it was their decision to make.

Orange Heart has also pointed out the nature of why it should be Adult Only.

There really is no separating such a tag. Trying to do is far more likely to cause confusion and the game would still be under the Adult Only filter as it goes above and beyond the "Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content" level of content.

This is a place to discuss suggestions and ideas for Steam and Steam's services. It is a user discussion and we are discussing the validity and if such an change is even needed. You are free to post the suggestion and idea, then unsubscribe from the discussion if you do not want to discuss it after posting.

it is a very ez task, about 3 days of minimal work. First it has to be acknowledge which can roughly take minimum one year to never/infinity.
