Well, it wouldn't be hard to do if they converted to WebP image formats. I doubt it would end up looking like a geosites or myspace.

Eww no thanks. There is a reason why there are no forums on the internet that supports gif avatars, and if they do you have to be a VIP user of some sort. Massive gif images on screen at one time kills browser performance and by extension steam client performance. (which is already awful to begin with)
