Steam+ or subscription.
Dear Steam Developers,
I know that Steam has a lot of good games. But there is no subscriptions on this excellent platfrom. So, for example XBOX GAME PASS has : Atomic heart, Snow Runner, Fifa 23 and a lot of games which are in XBOX GAME PASS subscription. So You need to add same. For example Steam+. There are a lot of gamers which want to buy you for subscription. But there is no one steam subscriptions.
Take my idea and do that one!

GabeN mentioned in an interview last year that Valve has no intentions of doing a subscription. They will work with whomever wants to bring their own subscription to Steam, like EA did. He also mentioned that Valve would work with Microsoft to bring Gamepass to Steam, should Microsoft want to do so.

I'd hope Valve stays away from it. Making everything subscription based being a norm would be awful. People already complaining about only owning a license to a game. Having your games vanish because of expired contract deals out of your control or not wanting to renew your sub would be something else.

Keep in mind that even if Steam had a subscription service they'd have to negotiate with publishers to actually provide game through that service.Valve couldn't introduce a subscription and then give you access to all the games on Steam without the consent of whoever owns the publishing rights or else they'd get sued big time.

You may just find that a lot of the games you wanted to play are unavailable and have to be purchased anyway.

That's the list of games that Valve owns. Those are the only ones they can put in a subscription without going to literally every publisher on Steam and asking them for permission and, of course, giving them a cut.

Steam does not have 'muscle power' to pull a subscription service. Their own 'muscle games' are Free to Play, so they don't work to drive people to a subscription service. And for the most part most 'foreign' muscle is already part of some other service's subscription model and they're not going to compete against themselves.

That is why I would rather own a digital license to something or a copy of it. Then any subscription ever because you are at their mercy if they want you to get rid of a game/piece of entertainment.
Buying something will always be better than relying on subscriptions

Imagine paying $20 per month, to not own any games.. when you could easily buy all the games you want with just a few months worth of subscription fees...

I wish they would just put Game Pass on Steam, i mean they did it with EA Play and their sh*tty launcher. Why not with Game Pass?

Because MS didn't ask Valve.

Ask Microsoft, they are the ones that have to make that choice. Valve has already said they would be more then happy to have service on Steam.
Subscriptions make me sick. Up next, $10 to open new Steam accounts plus verifying identifications of users or their parents.

I am actually in favor of one account per person (plus one developers account) and showing id's for Steam XXX (adults only) access.

Nowadays people treat games more and more as something expendable. Get game, play game, toss game (resell/trade/forget). In that sense for many a subscription service makes sense.

I personally don't like them because It gets me into a bad feedback loop. I pay to play games and I end up playing games only because I've paid to play them. Gaming becomes work.

Same reason I don't like season passes either.

Which is sooo not true in digital space.
You are still at the mercy of the service. Either to still provide the content, or to grant you access to it. The later generally means you have to accept their terms of service even if they change for the worse.
As soon as there is some form of rights management or something something internet is involved, you have no perpetual rights of any kind.
