Bring support for digital cards with dynamic CVV pls?
I no longer use physical credit cards for security reasons, so all my online shopping goes through a digital credit card which uses a dynamic CVV. This is all good and dandy, but if I save the credit card on Steam, it will no longer ask for the CVV on the next transaction, and since it's dynamic, the one that they saved is no longer valid, of course. This makes it so that every time I try to purchase a new game, I have to enter all my card info.

Most other online stores will let you save a card, and only ask you for the CVV when processing a purchase to avoid this very issue. Are there any plans on implementing this, or am I missing some option that would solve this issue for me?

Uhm... wait. Steam actually saves the CVV?
Afaik that violates more than a few compliance guidelines for several card providers.

To be fair, I'm not certain whether or not it does save the CVV, but it never asks for it again once your card is saved.

No, Steam does not save the CVV. That would be literally illegal.

Yes and no. If it needs the CVV the checkout process will ask for it.

I mean, you say that, but on my end whenever I go purchase a new game, it will never ask for the CVV and will only say that my bank declined the transaction. I will have to click to change the payment method and re-enter the full card information every time. So no, it does not ask for the CVV even when it definitely needs it.

I'm speaking of my own experience. There was question about whether or not it ever asks for the CVV. It does for me but not every time. That's why I started "yes and no." I bought $50 of wallet funds a couple nights ago and it asked for the CVV.

That sounds more like Steam wants to use a repeat-purchase flow with a stored unique token; but your bank or Steam's payment provider doesn't support it (properly); don't negotiate the transaction correctly; and it errors out.

You should ask your bank to look into that, because if it keeps happening and at one point they start suspecting fraud and issue a charge-back of their own volition; it can end up with Valve locking down your Steam account.

That... makes sense and it's something I hadn't considered. I'm going to have to look into it.

I get periodic checks of the CCV with a years old card number. Not every purchase, but it does check now and then.

Im not sure if theres a trigger or if it is random.

I just remove my card after the transaction. I don't like leaving cards attached to accounts.

If I "save" it, then delete it afterwords, then it keeps the billing information and all I have to re-enter is the card, date and numbers on the back.

A good alternative, if anyone is interested in one.
