Add an option to mask the red banner alert of old OS support end
Hello. Everything is in the title. It would be nice to have please, somewhere in the parameters menu, an option to mask that red banner at the top of my steam client window that remind me I have XXX days left before not being to play anymore.

I'm already saving for new rig as best as I can, and it's already stressful enough without having a massive red band under my eyes that constentely remind it to me.

Or maybe that option exist and I didn't see it?

Thanks.

Edit: On page 2, thanks to Start_Running (+ me who looked deeper), a solution has been found to mask for good the red banner ^^

Ah I figured out how to remove the banner. Much better. Youjust need to create a custom skin, edit it the SteamRootDialog.layout file and look for the support_alert, and support_alert_hover declarations. Modify to your taste. Setting the font-size, padding and insets to 0 seem to work.

That's actually a good news, but how to create a skin? Or better, is a way to copy the default one/rename it to modfiy that file? Or even better, where is this "SteamRootDialog.layout" located, as maybe there's a way to mod it ^^
Edit: I've found the find location. I'm gonna try to copy it , and modfiy original one.

- Go to your STeam Folder

- Select the 'resources' and 'graphics' folders.

- Hit CTRL+C.

- Open the folder Steam/skins

- Create a new Folder. The Name of the FOlder will be the name of the SKin. FOr this example, lets use 'NoAlert"

- Open the new NoAlert folder.

- Hit CTRL+V to paste the previously copied folders into the NoAlert folder

- Now Modify the file I mentioned in the previous post.

COngrats you now have a custom skin.

YOu activate it by going to Steam > Settings > Interface. and selecting the skin from the drop down menu. Then you restart STeam.

They have a banner? Is this why everyone is complaining today?

That's obnoxious.

It probably is set to go away after X time knowing Valve.

It was added in today's update.

It is the reason I guess, even if this news has been annouced on most of video games websites internationally since 3.5 weeks. I really hope so it will disappear (even if I'm pessimist) because if this red thing is meant to stay for the next 250 days, I'll need anxiety pills then.

I take it that it only appears when you are using an OS they are dropping support for?

If so, it would be nice to add a button to hide the banner. Maybe with each launch, if not permanently after acknowledging it.

Exactly what I hope for, because my anxiety is increasing, and I don't need to see such reminder ^^".

I tweeted valve and steam about that, but I have zero hopes.

I won't lose my time to install, optimize, securize and all stuff, W10, to redo the same process in some months again if I have the new pc. That old potat will stay on 7, as it didn't like 10.

Is there any way to revert back to the prior version of Steam client?

I don't have it, but I fully support an option to "nope" out of the banner.

Once a user's seen it that should be enough - the countdown would drive me bonkers.
