These games don't magically fund themselves and developers don't get paid their wages out of thin air.
Free to Play had been in existence for as long, if not longer than the subscription based model. It's a viable and proven business model.
You know what's a really scummy Pay to Win business model? Buy to Play with subscription. I bought the game, why should I have to keep paying in order to play the game I bought. Why should I have to buy additional content whenever an expansion pack comes out? Every time that happens, people buying that additional content are Paying to Win.
Consider you may not be the target of certain games.
In-App Purchases is listed in the Features section.
Though not always used. I know of at least one game that has yet to add it to their store, despite having added them to the game years ago.
It is something I wish Valve would be more strict on.
you do get that if you have to pay for premium to enjoy the game and not have to worry about losing money, then its not free to play any more... your argument literally point out the flaw with it being called f2p when its pay premium to play......
if forcing players to buy premium to not have to worry about the terrible eco system that will cause lots of people to lose money, particularly in the higher end of the game, then yes it is incorrect
Nobody is being "forced" to do anything. Heck, if you're not enjoying a F2P game, then you can stop playing it entirely at no personal loss whatsoever.
I have played both. In fact, I play dozens of Free to Play titles, and never felt forced to pay one single penny in any of them. A few I have spent money in because I enjoyed playing so much, I wanted to show my appreciation to the developers.
