Ever heard of PSN's Platinum Trophies? Which btw are awarded system side via the trophy API, not through the game itself.
Actually no, never heard of it. I don't play a playstation or any console for that matter and I don't actually know anyone locally who even has a console.
The API is a way for the games makers to have their game talk to the servers of the platform so that the achievements (trophies) can be displayed. Valve/Sony provides the API and the game makers put the code thats needed to access the API in their games. In either case its 100% up to the games makers to decide if they want to have achievements, how many they want, what ones they want and if they get an achievement for getting all the achievements.
As far as I know, thats not on every single game, only some games do that and its up to the game makers to have that in their game. If I'm wrong ok sure, never seen anywhere that says differently then what I have been saying. Still doesn't matter, but then again I'm not someone who goes out to collect achievements, I really couldn't care less if I get them or not. I play the games for fun only. The achievements I have are only because I got them during actual game play and didn't go out of my way to get them.
