I don't want multiple apps, with one for each 2FA account I have--I want one single 2FA app.
I use LastPass' 2FA, which can be utilized for Google Authenticator compatible accounts. Steam's 2FA is not compatible with Google, and I want it to be, because it opens the possibility of my using the 2FA app that I want to use instead of cluttering up my phone with bloat.
So you're back to having the possibly infected PC showing a fake window and asking for a code. The pretty much exact issue that used to happen.
The TOTP code is trade-agnostic.
The app shows exactly which are the contents of the trade you're confirming.
Because I use Google Authenticator for all my accounts. And it's annoying having to use an special app only for Steam.
valve wants you to use their app because they have 100% control over its system.
It's all been explained above a year ago that they can't show trades in the google authenticator and would then need two separate systems for the one logging in purpose which would get ridiculous to manage..
