Ability to HIDE or DELETE your badges (or convert them into gems)
It's all about cleaning your profile. Sometimes you craft a badge that looks ugly on your profile, sometimes you craft a badge of a dumb game, sometimes you craft a badge and simply want to get rid of it times later, sometimes you collect badges and don't want to show it - you're a private collector. You are able to craft badges freely, BUT you can't undo it, not even deleting and loosing de exp. It's like a permanent karma or stain.

Steam should let us to control our profiles better. We should be able to hide or delete the badges we don't want anymore, or even converting them into gems (small compensation). Maybe you don't want to make your whole profile private, you just want to make it simple and clean.

After deletion, may Steam remove the experience earned from crafting as well. There is clearly no chance of abuse.

You may ask: why the hell you crafted the badge, in first place? Well, nowadays Steam allow us to permanently remove games from our accounts - and someone asked the same question for that matter when Steam didn't allow you to remove games (why the hell you bought the game, anyway?). Its the same logic, Steam recognizes WE CAN REGRET THINGS - they even refund you if you dislike the game. That logic should be applied to badges.

Also, we should be able to hide our level - there are several reasons for that, use your imagination (maybe you don't wan't to show you super high level and look addicted).

It won't hurt anybody! :steamhappy:

I don't know about the gems (you don't get money for deleting games) but I like the idea of hiding badges.

I'd also like it if we could keep older badges, so we don't lose a cool looking bade for levelling up.

You can choose what badges are displayed on your profile, so I don't see that being an issue.

You can choose which are highlighted, its not the same thing. Not even close.

Yes, it is. The badges displayed are on your profile. The rest are in a seperate badge area that people have to actively click on, therefor it does not effect your profile. If people want to see all your badges, then they want to see all of them, not just the ones you choose to show.

It sounds like they are talking about the most recent badges shown in the profile, not the showcases. Though I will occasionally craft/upgrade a handful of badges and have it display the ones I want it to display, but I wouldn't call it "choosing".

That said, I wouldn't mind an option to delete badges. No compensation needed. Keep my money, take my xp, but allow me to remedy bad decisions.

If you can freely access that separate badge area, then it's a content inside your profile available to anyone, no matter how it's accessed. In first place, to access any profile is an ''actively click on'' activity.

It's pretty simple:
1 - There are users who want to delete badges.
2 - There are users who want to hide badges.

Steam doesn't feature any of these options.
How it's the same thing? In short, you CAN'T choose which badges are displayed on your profile.

Hiding badges people will report your profile for using an exploit as the XP won't add up.

Deleting will cause people whose accounts get hijacked to have the potential of all their possibly very expensive badges being deleted.

Both will cause unneeded support requests and headaches if they don't help. They are honestly better off not providing the option.

I love how people keep saying this when:
1. We are safer with Steam Guard - mobile 2FA?
2. Valve does not alway return items from hijacked accounts anyway.
3. Valve now lets us now remove games from our Steam Library. (no not the Hidden Catagory)
Very exspensive games deleted, but hijackers![www.pcworld.com]

Maybe they can just allow them to be removed - deleted like they do for the the games?
Which can be also be restored through the same self help process as the games.

You got that right. Steam is a huge company, let's not talk about "uneeded support" in order to promote features.

Yeah I don';t see this happening again. It just leads to more headache and grief when someone accidentally deletes a badge,

you should be able to chose which badges you want displayed as the 4 that are displayed, along with the main badge next to your name which you already can chose, you should also be able to trade/sell/delete any you don't want

with what sense?
and what do you expect happens with the ep awarded by the badgets? will it be taken away? like add and remove xp at any time you want -> useless and dumb

Badgets are unique and for collectors this isnt a "yeahhh lets trade" function lol?
i dont see any reason to be for that kind of dumbness and for sure, Valve would laugh about you for this sugg :D

And by the way... If you dont want a Badget, then why crafting that badget? its another useless and dumb point. If you dont want a badget -> dont craft it. and all are happy :3
