Local Co-op Filter
I'll keep this post really succinct.

There should be a button to filter your library for local co-op enabled games.

I have 500+ games on this one steam account and when a friend comes over and we want to couch co-op (with the TV and wireless xbox controllers) it'd be nice to be able to filter compatible games.

To do this I went through a convoluted process and used an online tool to help me find those games in my library (in a browser) and then manually switched to steam and put games into a filter one by one. Recently I just realised I missed a great one, portal 2, and have probably missed others. If steam wants to compete with consoles (with the steam boxs, steam link, steam os, steam controller, and such) it really should have this function built in.

That is all thanks.

I get this issue every week. We load up BigPicMode with a few gamepads and yup controller supported game filter needs work. No local play/split screen or more than 1 player tab.

It needs work if steam is to really break into the living room.

There is a stop-gap solution.

I see that your profile is private, you will need to set it to public for this to work. you can set it back to private afterwards.

You can go to this site and give it your profileid, this is a neat third-party tool.

http://www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/steam/

Putting in your profileid does not give this website access to any of your account that isn't public, meaning, you aren't giving them your login or any personal details. All it can see is what other users see when they visit your page. It basically probes your library via HTTP.

Your profile must be public for this to work, as it needs to be able to read your library.

You can then click the "Local CO-OP" tag, and it will list all of your games that feature Local CO-OP.

From there, you can go to your library and manually "set categories" on those games by right-clicking on them, and creating a "local co-op" catagory.

This category will then appear when in big picture mode.

It is not an ideal solution, and I strongly agree Valve should add the ability to sort your library from within steam, but it will solve your problem for the time being

It doesnt work. I have loads of games that are not officially listed as "full controller support" but are. It doesnt even have some worms games as controller supported/local play

Thanks for the tip Kojima, this is exactly what I have done in the past, although as eram noted it missed some games for whatever reason. Seems to be the best option currently however.

This just seems like such a glaringly obvious and requested addition to steam that isn't even that difficult to implement (unless games aren't correctly labelled, but surely developers will go out of their way to fix that if they want to be noticed). I don't understand why it hasn't been done already.

i agree keep this thread going. Some day our words heard.

Especially since Valve is attempting to compete with the consoles in the living room scene with with Steam Link, Steam Controller, Streaming options, Steam Boxes and Steam OS. Couch co-op, while not as big as it used to be before high speed internet (which is still limited to certain populations), is still an irreplaceble experience and when you have 500+ games and just want to easily find the ones you can play with your mates next to you...

This is important, and critical to effective functionality.

Wooo! 3 years later and we finally have it. I'm both over the moon and kind of shocked (because I thought at this point Valve must have no will to implement this feature).
