Steam redistributables
I have installed a little % of my library and most of my games use their own set of c++ redists/dx cabs/offline frameworks/other soft and libraries. In total it takes a lot of space and my SSD isn't bottomless.

I could clean up these items, but they are is a part of cache and games won't start after this untel rechecking and redownloading. Why you're don't want to combine Steam resistributables from all apps in a single container? They all MS-builds and game-devs could simply add shortcuts for requered redists without redownloading for every game folder

I don't think you understand how it works (or maybe you do but it's quite hot here so I don't think so straight).

Each application is built against a certain set of libraries, and since Microsoft deciced so, you can't run something with different versions of libraries than the ones used for compilation. It's been going on for so long it's not going to be redone.

Use CCleaner (together with Winapp2.ini list) to delete all redistributables from Steam folders.

You can delete the _CommonRedist folder at any time after it has served its purpose. Unless you verity the game's data, it will have no effect whatsoever.

Just checked theirs md5. They are all duplicates of each other. And i'm not talking about different c++ builds, i'm talking about over9000 c++x64 specific ver.11.0.30501build with the same md5 and over900 of unpacked dx libraries archive packages.

As i said, steam redists are part of the game content (checksum) and games won't start without them or they start crashing. And your ccleaner and humanitarian advice can not help there

Steam doesn't check any checksums every time you launch a game. Doing so would serve as another (rather useless) DRM-like protection.

If deleting those files would make games not start, then why people would bother with an automated way to delete them?

About redists, it's indeed pain and something like a common folder for all redistributables would be nice.
Use TikiOne Steam Cleaner to detect and delete these things.

Also works on other games too, like your GOG folder.

Look at my first post and screenshot. I don't need schooltips "how to delete files". I offered merging steam redists in one place without duplicates.

Thx Valve for merging all redist duplicates after 2,5 years. https://steamdb.info/app/228980/ Great job.

Now, install/uninstall any game and watch it trigger the updates.
