Organizing Friends Into Groups
Something that mildly annoys me about the Steam friendlist is that it gets big really fast and it's hard for me to keep tabs on which friends play which games.

I'd really love to be able to create certain "groups" in my friend list so I can just hit a tab for a group and have friends sorted there.

Like you make a group called Street Fighter 4, drop all your friends who play the game in it, make a group for Dota 2 and again drop all your friends who play the game in it and now whenever you're looking for someone to play either a) or b) with, you just hit the tabs and get an overview about potential playing partners.

Would really appreciate that.

Which I use to give friends a persistent name, cuz people change names all the time.
I also realize that I can just go to the library and select a game and see a list of people who own the game next to it, but that's not the point.

The point is to make the friend list itself more user-friendly and being able to have an overview about stuff like that while being able to also invite people all in one place instead of having to needlessly click around.

Also a problem with the library friends overview is that I know a lot of people who actually own the game but don't play it.
I think 30 percent of the games in Steam libraries remain unplayed anyways and the number of people who only spend a few hours in a game is probably even highter, so I think it would be nice to have a method to manually group friends in different tabs.

Not only for that but also so that I can do stuff like "close friends", "ragers" and whatever I want to in terms of friend categories.

Feel free to agree or disagree, I just want to gather some opinions about my suggestion.

Peace

Adding something like tags to friends? I like that :)

Don't forget that you can already right click a friends name, click on the option "add nickname" and then you got a persistent name in exclamation marks next to the one he chose.

It's a ghetto way of doing things, just thought I'd hint you to that in case you didn't know already.

why is "Tag as.." not good for these? (note Tag as.. is not Nickname)
is that not abut what you are asking for?

Indeed, "tag as" already allows you to group people on your friendlist. I have mine organised that way for a long time.
