The steamwebhelpers shouldn't be using 3GB of data. Unless you have tabs open that have things like... videos, images, etc. I guess then all that info would be stored.
One open for each tab. Like the Store, the forums, and one for the News pop up (you can see the process end when you close it).
Since it's the actual page (basically, a webpage) the more crap on the page the more RAM it takes up.

I went to the DotA 2 community page, full of artwork and scrolled down to view all the screenshots and pictures. RAM usage increased.
Once I closed the DotA 2 community page, the ram usage went back down to almost nothing.
So, as suspected, if you use more RAM, the site will use more RAM... surprise surprise.

If so why not use Small Mode from the view inside Steam?
When you switch to Small Mode, the existing default SteamWebHelper processes still are running. You just cannot open more. But you have to switch back to Large mode to use the Community and Forums, which then starts opening SteamWebHelper processes and depending on what you browse, increases the RAM.
Clearly this user is using the Steam Community sites while on the Client, which is why his SteamWebHelper processes are so large.
