Steam Alarm Clock.
Sometimes i get distracted by my video games, and my phone isn't on hand. Would be cool to have a reminder pop up through steam for whatever reason (cooking, appointment, reminder that i should be doing somehing else).

I mean i could just do it on phone, but lets be honest as a gamer i talk to everyone through steam, including my friends, the only reaon i use my phone is to talk to family/work. Instead of looking for my phone or to set my alarm it would be cool to set it through steam as a i play games. Somedays i can play from morning through night without realizing the how much time i spent.

I don't think this is a bad idea, but I don't see users using this often enough to justify the implementation. Most people already have devices/programs to keep track of things like that, and I can't picture many people would switch over to steam for that.

That's just my feeling on it, anyway.

8am time to play steam, 1pm time for a break, 2pm etc

Not a bad idea could be as simple as setting Steam UI to pop up every hour, open UI set reminder for say 3hrs.

Problem if it is on the same machine is that you can still easyily dismiss it. The moment you have to grab your phone will break immersion and thus it's easier for you to get your ass up instead of having the "5 more minutes" button a slight shift of the hand away from you.

And yet snooze buttons exist.

Multiple monitor setup or borderless windowed mode with your own preferred alarm app running. Windows 10 has a built-in alarm clock app you can use.
People/gamers usually don't like pop up taking focus away from their gaming.
If you loose track of important real life things while gaming, you have greater problems that even an alarm clock couldn't solve...:pudcatsurprised:

This^

Also being a Steam feature, it probably wouldn't work. Since Steam goes down so much no way in hell would I rely on an alarm clock powered by Valve...no thank you.

Or how about use the search and find one of the other tthreads about this????

Being a gamer doesn't just mean playing via Steam. So seems silly to ignore the phone concept which will work for all gaming devices and platforms versus restricting it to just Steam.

Not about to turn on my PC and load Steam when I'm gaming on my PS5. I know several others that won't do that either when on their Playstation, Xbox or Nintendo

EDIT: Opps should have checked creation date before posting....shows it's not the first thread like this

like...all you are missing the point, don't you play with headphones? phone alarm would not work so great if the phone is not at sight, also, I don't want a windows alamr if I'm playing online, I think an integrated alarm clock in steam would be convenient

Not missing the point. You however did. You want it on Steam so it's on Steam. That Is completely useless if you game on another platform or device.
Putting the phone under the screen, or in your pocket with Vibrate on would work in either of those scenarios including VR.

Therefore you already have the better option available. Coding a restricted alarm doesn't make much sense at when you look at it that way.

Windows comes with an alarm clock feature. Use that. If you are on Linux, I am sure there is one there or an obtainable one.
