Low hanging fruit: Overlay web browser must use white as default background color

The Steam overlay web browser displays many sites incorrectly because the default background color has been set to black, when the standard is white. Please follow the standard to ensure maximum compatibility.

You should not use plain white as background but an off-white. And it's up to each site to grand the best UX possible. That includes setting the CSS attribute for background and forground colour on body element. Not Valve's fail, but that of those websites. I can easily change the default fallback CSS of my browser to make every single site look hideous.

Right. The Steam browser is only meant for gaming walkthroughs. Well you'll be surprised to hear there are also countless walkthroughs that don't work in the Steam browser.

Fixing this will take five minutes, and it will probably benefit, like, a trillion sites.

Open the following file in your Steam folder:
Steam\resource\webkit.css

This file contains the default CSS styles for the Steam web browser. Add the following text to the end of the file:

body {
    background-color: white;
}

Now the default background color should be white.
