Can we see the names of those giving us Awards in steam?

As the title says, I would like to know who awards my content or my profile, so I can repay the favor and award them too as a thank you..

Or block these people giving me the clown/Jester award.

I'm inclined to agree, especially since blocking a user does not prevent one from being able to receive awards from them.

Being bothered by something doesn't necessarily mean someone is going to get into wars over it, especially since people are less inclined to "quote" an emoji than an actual comment. The only desire they expressed was to be able to block people giving them a jester award. Blocking is done to prevent mutual communication, not escalate it.

Where did they say "identify"? I mean, you'd need to identify a user to block them in the first place. You can't block them if they're anonymous.

Where did they say "identify"? I mean, you'd need to identify a user to block them in the first place. You can't block them if they're anonymous.

I think you're misinterpreting what they meant by their first sentence.

They meant "return the favour" for what they understand as nice or kind awards, by giving them nice or kind awards back. The comment below that says

"Or block these people giving me the clown/Jester award."

They're separating the nice awards and the jester awards into different categories.

We are already able to decide who has access to our profiles and images, and whether people are allowed to post on them. If someone is concerned about people posting undesirable things, they can turn off comments altogether. If they want people to be able to comment, then they'll have to take a more proactive role and manually block anyone who posts things they don't like to see. That's the nature of participating in a public forum.

It makes no sense to give people the ability to pre-emptively block someone on the basis that their content may not have value because they gave out Jesters. This really sounds like a weak rationale trying to hide that OP just wants to know who they should be angry at when they receive Jesters.

Can't stop you from thinking that, but most people see those giving out awards that are obviously done to troll them, and don't want to communicate further with them.

You shouldn't assume you know what the OP is thinking. They've mentioned nothing more than wanting to block people who they see as stalking or harassing them with jesters. It's very understandable that people don't want users who do things like that commenting on their profile.

That's why the OP is requesting a change, so they can block whoever is giving them jesters. It's a way of dealing with trolls in advance, so they don't have to moderate their own screenshots and profile as much.

But like I said, "having to moderate content from people who give Jesters" is not actually a problem. It's receiving the Jesters that is being perceived as the problem, and that would continue anyway.

For goodness sake, you can give a jester as a nice gesture as well. I can give someone a jester if I find something they write to be funny and want them to get more points since it gives the recipient more than a hilarious award.

It's easy to say that, but like the user who gave out the jester in the first place, it's unverifiable. Blocking doesn't have any effect on the jester award giver if they want to post publicly, only that they can't comment on the profiles of those who blocked them.
